I didn't see any thread regarding to music, so I thought I make one. I hope it's not against the forum rules. In my opinion, music can be a great way to divert your mind from porn, and there are tons and tons of great motivational music out there. So I think we should post them here. My advice is that we should write down the author, title, and genre above the link, so people who don't like that stuff, won't click it. I don't want this to break down into a fight about what genre is the best. It's like arguing about what kind of porn is the best. Totally pointless. With that being sad, let's start. Author: Skillet Title: Sick of it Genre: christian rock/hard rock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHzU-9iozmo Lyrics: www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/skillet/sickofit.html
Author: Grandaddy Title: Rear View Mirror Author: Grandaddy Title: Elevate Myself (just literally been listening to the album those two tracks are from this week and LOVE those two songs- very inspirational lyrics!!) Just to go off topic in an off topic thread (!!) I'm a musician and I cant recommend learning an instrument if you don't already play. You don't have to aim to be the next jimi Hendrix or anything, just might be an interesting challenge for some?? Just watch this video if you haven't already... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0dDLWGMhUo He learned to play "the pianos"!! ;-)
If you want to view your addiction as a 'gateway' into a new and better you try these two songs. The lyrics are wonderful, might help you see your 'relationship' to the addicted part of you (coz its never ALL of you!!) with fresh eyes... Title: Joga Artist: Bjork Title: Wonderful Emergency Artist: Nat Johnson and the Figureheads Both on YouTube (lyrics will be online somewhere- well worth a read!!)
i turn to music more as a release than motivation, so more often than not the sound of the song, like, its ability to detach me from my present thoughts and environments, does more for me than the lyrics do. i find more motivation that way, using music to tap into the more spiritually exclusive recesses of the mind, tell me that there is more than four walls around me. uh, this is parts 1, 2 and 3 of 'broken harbors' from my all-time favourite album, 'the tired sounds of stars of the lid'... by stars of the lid... obviously: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-Fhpdri_uk
and you push me out to the state oooooooooooooooof emeeeeeeeergencyyyyyyyyyy, how beautifuuuuuul to be. sick tune, man!
Indeed! Is one of the sickest tunes I've ever heard! (please tell me 'sick' means good!!:-D) I'm going to give that track you put up a proper listen when I can (is a long un!) I know this is only a very small party but I'm grabbing the turntable and sticking this on...sick!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fckRgkNJWZY&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Oh and HOW could I forget? !?!? Artiste: Jilted John Track: Jilted John (And PLEASE don't take these lyrics sewiously anyone!!;-D:-s)
Wondering what to do with all this free time? And that 'redundant' right hand? So many possibilities...need some inspiration...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx4cRw6TIIg&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Hi, I really love one song. The song is doesn't really have explicit content so I don't think that it could be a trigger. Link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Quv-Y5um4Ic Lyrics : http://songmeanings.com/songs/view/3530822107858863525/ Song : Sex Tapes Author : Protest The Hero Genre : Progressive Metal It doesn't really 'distract' me from porn, but it makes me feel like a spectator for one moment. The lyrics are very interesting. It's about celebrities who become famous 'thanks' to widely spread sex tapes. There is a line in the chorus : "All the boys are jerking off in private on the internet". When you imagine a cliché image of a boy actually jerking off in the darkness of his bedroom in front of his computer, you actually don't see yourself as being him, because he's fantasming on 'sex tapes' of actual celebrities that have leaked and that the boy has been eagerly waiting for. And this scene in our mind seems absurd when you picture it. But actually, we are a bit like this little boy, we are watching sex tapes, that are on a "higher" level in terms of 'performance' and visual appeal : porn. Therefore when I listen to this song, I imagine how I would look like in a 3rd person point of view... and it feels weird.
I Don't Wanna Die Anymore - New Radicals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJcqc-Bb4i4 Great song. Pretty sure its written about a girl the guy is trying to get over, but you can apply the lyrics soooo easily to PMO and fapping. It also has some sweet guitar solo work and cool passionate vocal runs if you're into that kinda stuff. "I don't wanna die anymore. I want to live it up. Don't want this life anymore. But I can't give it up. I won't live a lie anymore. I need to give you up." "I need to scream. I'm so filled with rage. You really screwed my world. I gotta live, but you stand in the way." Stuff like that... Enjoy! Stay strong!!
That feel when most of your favourite music is sexual as fuck, so you can contribute to the thread. Anyway, this is an amazing motivational song, about being unstoppable, and not letting anything stand in your way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxShYynUXTg Gogol Bordello - Undestructable "There is a core and it's hardcore All is hardcore when made with love Love is a voice of a savage soul This savage love is Undestructable" What love? Obvious... love YOURSELF. As long as you recognize your problem and you still indulge, loving yourself becomes harder everyday. So play it out loud, look down at the city from the top of the world and say it... UNDESTRUCTABLE!
artist: disciple Song: dear x (you don't own me) It's a Christian band, but the song's a great allegory to fighting personal demons, including PMO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9yIZnypqBk Also: Imagine Dragon's Demons: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWRsgZuwf_8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImQ_u9BXDi0 not motivation as such, but this whole album is just an inspirational, calming, completely sonic experience.
Muse- Survival. Been a huge fan since 2010. Broke my life and put it back together several times. Powerful shit. It's more sports based because it was the Olympics anthem but still, I know I can't listen to it before going to sleep or I'm going to dance all night long. Stay strong buddies! I'M GONNA WIN. To be honest... every music is motivational. I'm not a religious person, but if I had to choose one way in which God speaks to us, it would be music. Every good song... it does not matter if it's the cheesiest love song or the most brutal death metal song, it is a reminder of how awesome the world is, and how much we can achieve if we are truly free. I'm listening right now to a Polish punk song and the fact that I belong to the same species as the people who wrote and recorded it is motivation enough to keep it up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3kicEsx7g0 I don't need "Eye of the Tiger"-like anthems, or continuous reminders that Jesus walks with me. Every good song has its own majesty and its own motivation, even if it's not intended.
Breaking the Habit - Linkin Park. It's about addiction of all sorts. Here are some specific lyrics that are applicable to PMO. "You all assume I'm safe here in my room Unless I try to start again." "Cause inside I realize, that I'm the one confused." "I don't know how I got this way I know it's not alright. So I'm breaking the habit, I'm breaking the habit, tonight."
