I'm on my 16th day now, just surpassing my previous record of 15 days, and I can't say that I've noticed much change.

My energy levels are still the same, my self esteem is still low, and my anxiety has actually increased. I have had anxiety problems for a number of years now, hence my choice to start NoFap, but last week I noticed myself waking up and feeling extremely nervous for no reason.

I understand 16 days probably isn't a substantial amount of time in the grand scheme of things, and everybody reacts differently, but I wanted to see how long it took you guys before you started to notice change. I don't mean subtle positive changes, I mean when you began to really feel like a 'new person' so to speak (if that even happened at all).

  2. It's an interesting question and one that the more experienced "Fapstronauts" can answer best. I have to admit I do think placebo is an underrated thing with regards to nofap. The positive feeling that you're progressing on a rewarding journey, that promises the world, is likely to result in a general boost to one's perception of life and how they go about their every day activities. Of course, I believe in the process, but placebo is definitely something that comes into the equation more than most realise.

You've got a good point chef. I think the way your brain reacts is huge in this. Whether it's really real or not is hard to say. I've had a couple of streaks around 30 days and I can honestly say I start to feel better around the 2 week mark. Now whether there's actual change there or whether it's some kind of placebo effect is unclear. I feel better confidence, more energy, and more want. The drive to do things is back to its fullest. When I'm at my low points and fapping every day I don't want to get out of bed most mornings. With that being said I've heard that the withdrawal symptoms don't even kick in until after 30 days. Like you said Toby, every brain is different. Just keep plugging away, the changes will come sooner then you think. One thing I can recommend if your not already doing it is keeping yourself active. Do the hobbies you love. It'll keep giving your brain healthy dopamine and should help the process. Cheers bro, good luck to you!!

Yeah, I think the placebo effect is definitely something to consider. Some mornings I wake up, realise I've survived another day of NoFap, and that knowledge alone gives me a little boost in overall happiness. However, it's simply my mind saying 'yes, you've done another day!' and not necessarily a real chemical/bodily change resulting in greater happiness. It's also the same if I go to the gym. Sometimes I might have a good week of workouts, and that alone makes me feel really good about my image, I feel like I look good because I did well in the gym. However, my body isn't any different to the previous week when I felt ugly, so it's all just a matter of perception.

Anyhow, I'll continue to soldier on, my urges have been getting stronger over the last couple of days, so something is obviously going on with my hormones, hopefully a positive change!

I've never felt like a new person I haven't done 90 days yet, but I do get a high from nofap...... that was very subtle.
I've done a lotta drugs, so I know when my brain chemistry is altered even in a subtle way.
I don't seem to feel anything until after 20 days or so and even then it's quiet.
Less procrastination, slightly more energy, kickass workouts, and just more of a general drive to do things.
I don't think it's a miracle fix, but I do think it beats antidepressants for some people.
That being said your milage is going to vary, every substance effects everyone differently and your level of use of PMO if you used more you will have more dramatic positive effects, if you used less you might not notice anything at all. It's all personal brain chemistry.

everyone experiences benefits at some point in their individual journeys. I can say for myself that on day 4-7, i felt some benefits that others have felt, unfortunately I relapsed and those benefits vanished, literally right after I relapsed. Others may relate to me, however not everyone will, some may feel benefits after a lengthy time, who knows?
Focus on stopping this addiction not as a challenge but a lifestyle change and hopefully inspire others to move forward.

I think it really depends on the individual. How long you have been doing PMO and at what age you started. I felt changes around 14 days but my gym gains was within 7 days.
