I'm experimenting with chasteberry. It's an herbal supplement. It's usually used for women's health, but when taken by men its supposed to reduce libido. Monks used it in the middle ages to help them stay celibate. I've been on it for about a week. I didn't expect it to actually work and just tried it out of desperation, but it actually seems to be helping. I've had urges, but they're not nearly as strong as they used to be and its relatively easy to turn my attention away from. Then again, I've had brief periods of remission before, so I wonder if I'm fooling myself. Does anyone else have experience with chasteberry or other herbal sex drive suppressants?
It worked pretty well for 21 days. The urges were a shadow of what they normally are and I could easily dismiss them. Then I guess I built up an immunity, because they came back. I may try again as a supplement to all the other stuff I'm doing to get a head start on my next streak. If you decide to try it, remember to stay hydrated. It can affect your kidneys.
It doesn't reduce testosterone, it just blocks its action by binding to testosterone receptors. I've read to some men can start developing breasts while on it, but it's rare.
Sounds like you shouldn't use it. The whole point of doing nofap is so you feel more like you have higher testosterone.
Chasteberry or Vitex is an anti androgen herb. You’ll find a lot if you look up that term. Short answer: Not a good idea if recovery is your goal. But please learn about it.
I would prefer having my urges supressed rather than relapse over and over again, and getting hooked up into porn even better.
Chasteberry/Vitex WILL reduce your libido if you take enough of it for long enough time. I can't say specifically on the dose and duration. But I can say convincingly that it WILL work. Just be sure you want all of the effects of an anti androgen. (more feminine features, softer/no erections, smaller testes, etc.)
