I Feel Like a Hypocrite

    Hey everyone,

    I wanted to make a post about something I've been thinking about recently. To give you background I have been in a spell of constant relapses for a couple weeks now and I am having the most difficult time getting back up. Right after I relapse, however, I remember how much I'll say to my friends or family how bad P is and how M is easy to give up whenever. I realized that I am a huge hypocrite. In the future, when I am P and M free, I will have the absolute right to say these things but right now I can't. Can anyone else relate to this experience?

    Yes, I've told my friends multiple times about the dangers of porn and have relapsed countless times, so I can definitely relate to your feeling of hypocrisy. What you need to tell yourself is that this is exactly what addiction is; knowing the harm and dangers associated with something your constantly use/consume and still deciding to use/consume such thing even after committing to quit. I don't really think this falls into the category of hypocrisy because of this; many of us here are addicted, and though we would like to get rid of such addiction, it is not easy.
    I do think its good to tone down the preaching a bit though, until you have better control of the situation, no one likes a preacher that doesn't practice. Keep fighting!

    You're totally right. It's a tell-tale sign of addiction when it comes down to it and I never would have thought it would come to the day where I say that I have an addiction! I'm definitely gonna keep fighting even though it's a rough fight.
