Reflecting after my relapse

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Dragon Silver, Aug 5, 2019.

  1. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes and today, I had my fault. It has been six years since this story began for me. The first video, and then, it wrapped around me and became my life. This is painful to admit to. For the past year, I have gotten so much better. Yet, every now and then, I have slipped up.

Naturally, it saddens me, to think that a search can be so damaging. In short, I believe I need to take some time to walk outside and, consider what I need to do in the future. Thanks everyone.

  2. You have had more days without pmo now than before and you have learned. Don't forget that.

  3. It is good that you are disappointed and feel regret to have relapsed. However, recognize that you are human - as imperfect beings we all make mistakes. Don't use that as an excuse though. We all fall down - what matters is what we do after we fall. I reset 6 days after after a streak of 14 days to begin my journey. I felt terrible. Remember that feeling. Also, do some reflection and try to figure out what triggered you. Then avoid that issue.

Take cold showers 4 times a day

  5. Firstly, Thank you for all your insight everyone. I agree, as humans we make mistakes and well, we should learn. I have certainly had ups and downs. I am glad to say I have gotten three to four month streaks over the past year. It to me shows that with perseverance and resilience I can make it.

And so, I will begin my journey with the knowledge that I can improve and then, I will be free of this. I also know it will be hard, I can attest to that due to the past. But even with that, I will give it my best and update you all. I hope with my story I can inspire others along the way. In addition I am sure I will need guidance and will be here regularly for it. May you all have a fantastic day!

P.S: (Tigresswild) I will try the cold shower method, I have heard of it, so that's on my list.

Slip ups are supposed to happen in my eyes. No one gets from point A to point B in one shot especially when it comes to addictions. Its how you handle the failures that determine the speed at which you recover in my eyes

  8. Thank you so much, your words of encouragement are heartfelt. And you are absolutely right. Change is gradually occurring every day. Like Winston Churchill said "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."
