Has anyone wondered why this is the way it is?

As a not good looking person, I suppressed all my sexual thoughts with violent media through my teenage years. Now I'm an adult and I don't have any idea what sex is. I would preffer be found killing someone than to get caught looking at women (Which I don't know how to do either).

I find ironic how things like Mortal Kombat exist and get more violent every new game that comes out, but if a nipple appears that's too much.

"Did you add the option to use the spines of others as toothbrushes? Good. Is that a nipple? You're fired, sick bastard, think of the children."

I mean, the morality can be compared all day, but the vast majority of people don’t get turned on sexually by violence and gore like they do to porn and even some nudity.

But sexuality is not as tolerated as violence in the media. People get so obssessed with pornography because sexuality in general is considered taboo, so the most superficial part of it get exploited.

I would argue that society is far more open about sexuality then at any other time in history actually (I don't think this is good tbh). I think the reason we have violence in games and movies at such a high frequency is that there is a clear disconnect between fake violence and the real thing. Most people and society as a whole are horrified by real wars, crime, fights, etc. I'd argue that our media hardly conditions us to think violence is normal, for most of us REAL violence is a far off thing. On the other hand with sex, it's something we are far more familiar with in real life terms. It's easier to draw a connect (we shouldn't but we do) between media sex like porn and real sex. This combined with masturbation creates a popular warped view of sexuality. It's why pmo is such a problem. If media violence really had the same connect, then far more consumers of "violent" media like gamers would be violent but they aren't.

  6. I agree with Crusader18. We can look at violence as a form of entertainment while being disconnected from it mentally, morally and physically. Seeing sex or nudity triggers our natural instincts and real reactions in our brains and bodies that should be only triggered in sexual contexts because otherwise we become desensitized to those triggers.

  8. It's nit the way it is
    Weird flex, but okay
Come on. You have no clue what sex is? No idea at all on where to put your penis?
What kinda drugs were you on writing this? Ypu wpuld rather kill somebody versus doing a normal and natural instinct?

& you have no clue how to look at women? Honeslty, hiw old are you? I dont ask to roast you. Bht if youre above the age of 12 you should know tbese things.

And you do know these things, i know you do. Im just responding to what you wrote
If a nipple appears then what's the problem again?

.... Im lost in alot of ways

I know is hard to know when to take me seriously so I'll go point for point.

I don't know what nit is but okay.

I don't know what weird flex is but okay. Flex Tape?

I know what sex is, I think, but to be honest I am not sure that how women are down the bellybutton.

No drugs, I just grew up thinking that way.

Most of my friends always stare at women but when I do it I really don't know what to think. They look good, yes, but I don't know what else to think next.

Do you remember GTA San Andreas? The game where you can cause utter mayhem and kill hundreds of thousands just for fun? Well it was supposed to have a mode where you could have ("""Explicit""") sex, and they had to remove it because some rating thing. So they took out the regular activity that most people do all the time, but they left the mass murder part. It doesn't make too much sense to me.

Sex makes people vulnerable violence doesn't. I read once throughout the world there are two taboos in every culture and those taboos are sex and death.

It gets me how those who make violent movies get all mad when they're confronted about the violence. Quentin Tarantino tends to storm out of interviews when he's asked about the violence in his movies - it's like he doesn't want to be held responsible for the content he creates.

I found interesting how Dennaton Games made Hotline Miami, an extremely violent game, but it wants to make you feel bad for playing it, because you are killing hundreds in gruesome ways, but in the second game there is a scene where a Pig Mask Man beats a woman up and then gets on top of her (It turns out to be fake in-game) and there is an option to skip that part. Sexual violence is horrible, yes, but so is killing others. Why censor only that part?

You don't masturbate to violence and gore, that is the difference. Violence is removed from everyday life, sex is a (hopefully) private, intimate part of every persons life. But sex is still everywhere in media, at least western media, especially social media. And porn is openly discussed among young men in high schools, so the distinction between the two isn't as clear cut here, they seems to both be fairly well accepted. We are desensitized to both.

There is people who masturbate with violence and gore. And I don't wouldn't say we are desensitized to both, or at least not violence. As some have said before, fake violence and real violence are two different things, people are desensitized to fake violence, and not all the time, it depends the way it is shown.

    Some interesting points made here.

Personally, I am not opposed to art that depicts fictional sex and sexual scenarios, despite being anti-'Porn'. I definitely don't want to return to a society that bans books like DH Lawrence, James Joyce, etc for their frank descriptions of sex, or even movies etc. - they are just words, just pretend, they do not contribute to abuse, people trafficking, prostitution, organised crime etc. I am avoiding such things at the moment while I am in recovery though (of course!), and I am happy for them to be restricted to adults who are not susceptible to having their ideas about sex warped by some unusual art.

Violence is the same. But I can't stand boxing and especially UFC and (the rougher side of) Wrestling. It's weird how many people let their children watch this.

Well wrestling is fake, and boxing is rigged, and I suppose UFC whatever that is supposed to be is rigged too but it can still be violent.

Wrestling is fake? I bet you wouldn't say that to Stone Cold Steve Austins face, or perhaps you'd like to tell Hulk Hogan that he's just playing a character.
It's like you foreigners don't understand higher american culture.
