Its imperative that you realize that the body and the mind are not the same entity. The thing you call as yourself is you, but its also separate from you. For example, when you get horny, do the feelings come from the mind? Or do they come from the crotch? When you get hungry, the feelings, they come from the stomach, correct? But your conscious mind(the one you use for affirmations) can modify this, no? The physical body is programmed to stimuli. Its literally an animal composition of physical elements all undergoing constant physiological change. It sees a stimuli, acts, and if it feels good it compels you to do it again, just like an animal. But now you see you have this other portion of the mind, the one you can consciously think thoughts with. Use this mind in order to induce dispassion.

How do you do this? Well here, in your mind, use these affirmations...Pornography is disgusting, or when you see a hot girl, say "god she is so ugly", or you can even say things like "I have no interest in sex, or dating". You see, you program this physical body with the conscious mind. All your fears, depression, anxiety, anything that can be modified through pharmacological drugs, can be modified with the use of your "conscious" mind. I can explain more if you don't understand it, but I feel this holds a deep level of truth at its core.

You see, you can modify almost any part of your physiological psychology with your conscious effort. This is why affirmations, if believed in thoroughly, can be liberating. Affirmations like "I want to grow my ... 9 inches" they might be useless, idk. But ones like "I am beautiful", I am amazing", these can help to unlock you psychologically. Your unconscious thoughts, are nonsense. They are just due to diet, medication, lifestyle, etc. But if you realize that alone, you realize what is the mind, and what are you. You are consciousness with willpower. Dissect it 9 ways till Monday, conceptually, is that not all we are?

    Good day,
    Ajar.

I would say it is better to use actual evidence to help change unhelpful thinking patterns. Saying a beautiful girl is ugly is just lying to yourself. Possibly better to be honest with yourself and when you find yourself looking, say no I don't want to look. Yes, the mind is very powerful and cognitive behavioural techniques can work in some situations but sometimes there is hidden trauma that will not respond to thought modification. The mind is very powerful, and also very complex.

What evidence? You mean the one that let cigarettes prevail for over 60 years before they realized its carcinogen? The ones that tell you cholesterol is bad for you, when there actually is no evidence for it? The ones that tell you HMG-Co-Reductase statin drugs actually help, when scientifically it has been proven that all they do is screw up hormone profile? Yea...evidence....Look I'm not saying science is wrong, in alot of cases, but propogated information is pretty delayed, and or misconstrued.

When you say lying to yourself, you literally just said say "no I don't want to look"...that's also lying to yourself. At least if your saying a beautiful girl is ugly, you're desensitizing your mind from the pre-existing sexual notions, not denying a reflex(repression)? Because if you think about it, you have to have something to repress, inorder to repress it, no? Why not remove the thing that needs to be repressed? I mean literally what thoughts do you think got you there in the first place? I'm pretty sure everytime you saw a hot girl, you're like wow oh shes so beautiful, or "wow", or something along those lines, right? Why not modify the thought pattern to not be so sensitive to that stuff? That's literal thought control. The next time you see a beautiful girl, or even seeing them on TV, and you're attracted towards them, listen to the thoughts going on in your head...This is how affirmations can work, because the affirmation is coming from an area within you of consciousness. The animal unconscious nature in us will always compel us to live like animals, to live through the senses, eating, pro-creation, smelling, touching, etc, etc.. It has its purpose, primarily for sustenance. But it appears that people have always abused the senses, today even worse due to everything being readily available. But you take the power away from those senses, through conscious will, you become more human, more balanced, stronger, focused.

    Hey Ajar,
Sorry to have commented on your post.
I didn't mean to offend or cause aggravation.
Saying I don't want to look is not lying to myself. I really do not want to look because I know the consequences of sexualising my thoughts. The more I look the stronger the neural pathways towards craving sexual stimulation.

But I do agree with the basic tenet of what you are saying. We can use our minds to change our behaviour?
    Yes, cool.

ahhh so that's where you're coming from. I wasnt angry, sorry I read alot of literature so everything is based on defense of the premise, may come off as a bit tenacious at at times. Sorry.

You honestly just gave me some insight into something I had forgotten a while back. Thank you!!! Its weird though, because I have done what you are also doing with avoiding the thoughts about sexuality. Now I am thinking what if we combine the concepts...like reduce the thoughts and at the same time consciously try to reprogram the mind....hmmmmmm the question is how...I think you just raised a storm in m mind lol. Thank you
