Unhelpful people in past movements

Looking over the history of the anti-porn and anti-masturbation movements in US history especially, who would you say were unhelpful to those struggling with various addictions, character defects and weaknesses?

We have seen people like Anthony Comstock who saw the Greek style nudes in Washington DC to be major problems. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Comstock
He was one of the most pervasive censors, with a commission from around 1870-1915.

J Harvey Kellogg was another one. https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/32042/corn-flakes-were-invented-part-anti-masturbation-crusade He was a real quack, removing sections from people's digestive tracts in the interest of health.

In the last 100 years we have had many crusaders, generally religionists who speak harshly against social problems as if that would make them go away.
