Hi guys. How many of you guys have installed Porn blocker on your devices and is it a must to install it if you're on this journey ? or we can do this without the blockers too.

I think they can definitely be helpful, but they aren't the solution. Playing around with settings and finding workarounds (such as using different devices) is something I found to be a trigger when I used some of these apps/browser extensions before.

I think the most powerful way to kick this addiction is to fundamentally just not want it anymore. And that means fundamentally changing one's environment (which isn't just physical, but mentally as well). At the start of the covid quarantine I relapsed about once a week, sometimes more, as I didn't have a life plan to guide my life towards. I just was trying each day not to feel terrible about the state of the world.

Eventually, I was able to make it about a month without relapsing by putting myself in a positive social environment (connecting with some people my age at the online internship I'm currently doing). I made some nice social connections and developed a work crush that reminded me of my real desire for true love. I think most importantly, I now have a direction of where I want my life to be (I want close friends and to be a musician), and thus porn just doesn't seem very appealing in my life anymore.

Apologies for the rambling. I hope some of my thoughts can be helpful for you on your journey!

  3. a blocker just gives you some time to reconsider going to porn. it can be helpful but is not what makes or breaks the journey. check out pluckeye.net for an intense filter.

You said "the most powerful way to kick this addiction is to fundamentally just not want it anymore". I totally agree brother. If I can master my will power and build new goals then I think I would be able to succeed without a blocker. Anyways I have to do it without blocker only. So might as well make myself strong.

They can help as a warning but if the person is dead set on going on a relapse they’ll just turn it off. Just don’t go on at all

I agree they can help also, if you are a pc user like me kurupira is a good free one. If you have a friend who you trust, let them set the password for you. That way you cannot turn it off. This is only for PC.

  9. I don’t use pornblockers I found it was a way of lying to myself that I was getting better when I was just getting better at burying deeper going underground until I could get the next wave.

I think accountability is the best blocker to have.

I tried porn blockers once. Not worth it. If you really have an urge, you will find a way to look for porn, no matter how.

Cold showers, diet and being here helped me a lot.
