I'm sick of porn and masturbation ruining my life. It started when a cousin introduced me to masturbation when I was 11. A few months later I started googling techniques which quickly got me hooked on porn. In the 16 years since I've become a pro at using masturbation and orgasm to run away from the not-so-fun feelings and experiences in life. 6 months ago I realized that I was really a mess and needed some help before I lost it. So I started seeing a counselor. I have seen HUGE improvements in my mental state since then. He's really helping me uncover the ugly things I've buried inside me and spent huge amounts of time and energy (read: porn and masturbation) trying to avoid. It's been hard to dig all that up. In the beginning it made me want to run to my addictions even more. Now that I'm doing a bit better it's time to quit. Before a month ago (when I started actually trying to quit) I really had no idea how bad my addiction was. I see now, that in large part it caused me to fail a semester of medical school which put me another $30,000 in the hole. Seriously. It's time to stop being a slave. So far I've gone one month without viewing porn, which is a small miracle. :) However, I've realized that underlying the porn addiction is an addiction to lust and the feeling of sexual release. This is why I also want to kick the masturbation habit and it is proving to be WAY harder than I thought it would be.

  6. 30 days! Very impressive! I have faith that you will make it to 60, then 90! Then pretty soon you're in a rocket ship blasting off into space, away from a planet of slavery.

    Welcome!
It's great that you're fighting this battle!
There're a lot of things to do to start.. Blockers, workouts, readings.. I hope you can find the one that works for you!
I would recommend to talk with somebody close to you about your addiction.. a good friend, a family member... Saying it loud can be sooo healing.. at same time you keep it as an accountibilty partner!
    Go for that first goal!

Good friend and accountability partner is so true. I started with my "gf" but she was never able to understand. One of my guy friends is also going through this as well and he fully understands. Make sure to work with someone who can understand instead of someone who would look at you with eyes of disgust.
