Blocker for Computer that can't be uninstalled?

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Jan 25, 2021.

  1. Hello!

I know there are other threads about blockers but for me it's the computer that is the challenge and not the smartphone.
ColdTurkey works very well for the starter but it can be uninstalled when I have a weak day/moment with a program that can uninstall any program on my pc.

Is there a blocker that is impossible to uninstall or a way to make a program (like ColdTurkey) uninstallable?

    Hi,

No there isn't an program that will prevent you from uninstalling. They only way is to have an accountability partner that will become the administrator of your device controlling the setup of your device. That being said if you're tech savvy enough there is even ways around that. But having an accountability partner does make many addicts change their PC usage habits, and that is key changing your habits.

I think you need to realise there is no permanent way of blocking pornography or triggers if you wish to continue to use modern technology. However, you can put in place measures to control your use. Cold Turkey is the best example of a program used to control access to a PC. I often block access to my PC sometimes for an entire day so I can get other things done.

In regards to smart phones. There are apps available to control usage as well (just do a search on this forum). I'm in a lucky position where my employer provides my smart phone, which I also use for personal use (I don't do much personal). This works out great as I wouldn't dare look up porn on a company phone as it would instantly mean I'd be fired.

Controlling your technology usage coupled with an addiction recovery routine is frankly the only way forward.

  3. Nope, there is no permanent way to blocking porn. You can put measures in place to prevent a relapse, but bypassing content blockers is very easy. You just have to forget that porn exists.

I should also mention that you can create a block within Cold Turkey to prevent using uninstaller programs. I wont mention the uninstaller program that you would've used (I'm certain I know which one) but you should be able to create an application block with Cold Turkey and there are a few ways to do this.

  5. I use industry class firewall with SSL inspection. I gave a cable to a friend + I use small data plan on my phone.

Firewall is called: Fortiwifi. It is $$$. I work in a field. So the ownership = keeping the skill.

I made 160 days once in hard mode.

You need to find a release for the energy.

For me it is sport. Cardio + Yoga and Free Weights + positive energy.

I was into politics but left or right, they just manipulate you and pissing you off.

    Not anymore. Avoid negative news.

There is nothing good on the market. I used to use k9 web protection but it was cancelled. I used to use SelfControl for Mac but I have now switched to windows so that option is out.
