Sub & dom , is it all about self esteem?

That might be part of the equation for some, but for many people it is far more complex than that and for some it probably has absolutely nothing to do with low/high self esteem.

And, on the contrary, I think dominance can be very attractive to someone with low self esteem.

 

No no. Its not right. Self esteem is not linked with being dom/sub.

 

It might be linked. I badly escalated to a lot of sub stuff because of low self esteem and some sub fetishes, such as sissy fetish are exploiting low self esteem. Many people might be just that way but it is not unheard of that mix of porn and low self esteem will make you more sub.
