The best thing you can do is be honest about it. The more you try to hide or deny the fact that you have a problem the worse you'll feel about yourself. Being open about it (especially to your parents) is one of the first moves you have to take to get better. For all you know he may not even be mad..

 

You may be lucky that he found out instead of you telling him. Having someone close to you support you through this journey is probably one of the best things that you can have. Be honest to him, and maybe the next time you get to see him you can talk about it in person if both of your are comfortable doing so. Do not feel ashamed. Be clear when you explain your addiction and other problems to him, and ask for advice or help. If he's nice about it, then that's a massive plus towards battling this addiction. If not, then give him time to forget about it, and still feel alleviated rather than ashamed.
