Do you ever get so stressed sometimes fap works

    I know this is about NoFap and I'm not going to deny my issues around my addiction to it .

    But
    On some occasions me personally there seems to be a extremely high level of stress .... And say Ive been no fapping a few days here and there . And yes stress is high there has just been problem after problem in daily life and with NoFap stress is high . And nothing feels like it's going to get rid of this stress.

    On occasions like that fap helps to reset from stress . I'll look at myself after a fap under these circumstances and I'll look more masculine than usual . Thick dark stubble and hair jaw line and facial structure is more prominent and complexion is more healthy

    Which is totally different from fapping excessively

    This isn't a post about fapping to relief stress.

    It's about the level of stress that accumulates that seems to be relieved by pmo or mo

    Is it because of going NoFap for longer and longer periods .

    Or is it because of the reality that that's what we use porn for and without stress levels can accumulate intensely

    I agree that stress produces a big compulsion to wank (certainly it does with me - anxiety and fear of failure is the biggest trigger and indeed it was probably what caused me to start PMOing in the first place) but that's exactly what your brain is going to use to make you think that it's OK to have another wank, just this once. That's why you, and everyone else here, has a masturbation and porn addiction in the first place - because our brains have become wired to seek the dopamine produced from PMO as a relief to the stress. The thing is, though, all it does ultimately is force us to restart our streaks, undoing all our progress. It may feel good at the time, but it solves nothing, in all likelihood the problems that cause the stress are still there and have remained unsolved. What's more, in the hours after, certainly in my case, it makes me feel drained and groggy, because there's none of the oxytocin that comes from bonding with a long-term female partner as part of a true lovemaking experience.

    It's the same with every addiction in fact - that's why so many famous actors in the 20th Century turned to drink, and why so many musicians turned to drugs. That's why some people smoke, gamble and do crazy suicidal adrenaline stunts. All addictions result from an unsolved mental crisis, often stress-induced, that urge the brain to seek some sort of relief from one of the natural hormones in our bodies or artificial sources, to make the threat appear and feel less than it is. However, it doesn't actually do anything to solve the problem - often it just makes it worse.

    In my view, no porn or masturbation-induced orgasm works if you're aiming to free yourself from PMO. The best thing you can do is trust in your NoFap streak to quell the stress. Don't worry about when things will be sorted out, just do your best each day to beat your goals and fight off PMO, and things will eventually work out.

    Thank you @Vanquisher12. I needed that jolt of reality this morning. So well said with so many truths. What did cause each of us to need the dopamine hit more then the next person? Feelings of inadequacy at a young age? Of course didn’t everyone have that at 13. Imposter syndrome- feeling like we were just lucky not deserving of what we had. The list could go on. You would think my therapist could give some insight. I’ll need to push her to dig deeper. I always just wrote it off to a higher sex drive.
     
  4. Absolutely. Once, I was stuck on a paper, beat off, and then magically got started on the paper - pulled an all nighter and wrote a 15 page paper.

    The thing is … 90% of the time I just feel lousy after PMO. Every other time that I tried PMO before writing a paper, I just gave up and went to bed after :oops:

    So, yes, it can relieve stress or help you reset … but it comes with a price and a high risk of leading to addictive behavior … especially if you are combining masturbation with porn and especially risky if you are using internet porn.

    Sometimes masturb. to pornography does relieve stress. But afterwards, you are going to be more frustrated because you gave into the urges and have to start all over again on NoFap.

    I don't think faping really releases stress. It causes it more, cause you waste so much time and energy on the fap instead of fixing the thing that's making you stressed.

    I did this a lot the evening before a major exam or a paper was due the following morning.
    I would take wank breaks.
    They would help but after I’d fap, I’d get the feeling like I just wanted to get it over with.
    I wonder how much better my papers/grades would have been if I had discovered NoFap during that time period in my life.

    Yes. Sometimes I fap. But it is after meeting women throughout the day only to get little results with them. Then my thoughts of frustration appears. All the other non sexual stresses, I usually just go exercising or some self care activity.

    There are some time tho where the craving is so bad that it's actually painful to resist and you fap just to feel relieved. It's still rare for me.
    Honestly if I wasn't doing that for God, I don't think I would resist. Not because I think it's harmless, but just because it's way too hard.

    Very true stress is the real trigger to fap. Don’t feel like doing anything and my brain takes an easy route fapping.
    I wish I can find my hobbies. I know everyone are different, what you guys do to divert mind other than fapping during stress

    A few years a ago i got a call from a customer with the news his business was bankrupt due to a accident that happened. There was a fairly large invoice that still needed to be payed and it was clear that was not going to happen. After the call i was little upset but accepted it and went on to work. It was still on my mind and after a while i got the urge to masturbate to get over it. I was really surprised about this as i thought it didn't affect me so much and i had more or less accepted it, but there was a clear relation between the event and the need to MO. It showed that subconscious it bothered me more than I would like to acknowledge and the need to MO was clearly a coping mechanism.

    You are conditioning your mind to use pleasure every time you are stressed or anxious.

    Instead of feeling what you need to feel , you escape.

    A true man will never use pleasure as a form of escapism.

    It may feel as fapping is the fastest way to cope with stress, but it's not the best one. Have you ever felt that when we are like, 10 days off PMO, stress tends to increase?? It's your brain tricking you, telling you a fap it's not a big deal. But in fact, these are the urges just growing up a lot. BE STRONG

    I agree, PMO or even just MO does relieve my stress personally. It got to a point though that I was trying to relieve my stress with PMO, then I would be more stressed from the act of PMO. My brain was so accustomed to that release, but once that release became the center of my stress, then I was actually just giving my body a shot of stress on top of the stress I already had. Stress stress stress stress, and more stress lol.

    Once I started going to therapy, I learned that stress and anxiety are an essential part of us as humans. Why else would we have the ability to do so? It's not like we as humans created these feelings, they were already there. Therapy taught me to have a better relationship with my anxiety and stress rather than try to eliminate it. I use to smoke a bunch of weed, mainly because it would numb everything and I would be in my own world of no worries. But once my brain started becoming use to that dopamine high, and demanding more and more dopamine, it started to feel bad.

    yep yep yep!! same with me bro it's crazy usually when I do a lot of work i just need to wank to get the stresss away!! I'm a very stressed person and i brought on myself. How can we reduce our stress???

    first of all when u get that feeling it might just be u have to go to the restroom, need more water, need to stand up

    second try to buy as many stress relief products as you can like oils stones stress relief ball etc.

    third talk to someone even if it is just a coworker talk to them to get your mind off things

    fourth pray/meditate

    fifth go to a social event where you know there will be singles

    please send me some advice if you have any cause i been dealing with this situation rn

    This is a big one. I used to stay up for long hours wanking it.
    I don’t know if it’s a result of nofap or that I’m getting old but after years of insomnia I’m able to fall asleep at reasonable times.

    When I'm not abstinent and "edging" by looking at girls on the web and telling myself "no coming" or "no touching," and it's taking up a portion of the day when I'm supposed to be working or, you know, doing something that's not a complete waste of time and energy, sometimes I will make myself orgasm to "get it over with." You know, like being hungry and finally eating a big meal to get your stomach to shut up. Otherwise, there is no point in working, I'm just going to click on any of a number of about four sites to see if she reacted to a comment, or maybe there is a private email, and such and such. So - BANG.

    And then my dick is quiet, my mind is quiet, and back I go doing what needs to be done.

    Wanted to add, though - be careful what you think you see in the mirror. First, your image is reversed. Second, the mind can see whatever it wishes to see. Depending on different days, i can see a trim, toned fellow with a twinkle in his eye. On another day I see a fat frog with kinky hair. Same guy, different day.

    If you see a more masculine fellow after fapping, I won't stop ya. But I really don't think one has to do with the another. I could be all wet. But them's my two cents.
