Morning Wood

Discussion in 'Compulsive Sexual Behavior' started by Deleted Account, Sep 28, 2021.

  1. I'm 33 years old and my testosterone level is at about 484 ng/dl.

I do not get morning wood when I wake up. When I sleep, I notice while sleeping that I have nocturnal erections.

Is it bad that I wake up and have no morning wood? Is this a testosterone issue?

I do take Viibryd (40mg) and Wellbutrin, but am seeing an alternative treatment psychiatrist to tapper off the medication.

Worry less about morning woods and more about your performance with partners. If you are recovering from porn abuse and your morning woods are returning then that is a sign of recovery, but otherwise they seem irrelevant. For many months I will not get morning woods or spontaneous erections, but then be extremely hard when having sex; I can even go for multiple rounds in one sitting.

  3. I am not in a relationship. I am in the process of slowly tapering off - currently going from 40mg to 35mg.

  4. Thank you - I think a lot of what I have is an anxiety issue - OCD so to speak.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

    22. Porn abuse was definitely my issue because I was PMOing for 3-4 hours everyday and was unable to get any erection when with a naked woman. In just 3 months I was able to cum easily from sex with very hard erections and about 6 months later able to have sex as much as i wanted

Man, you have to be the most uplifting and knowledgeable person I have seen on this site in a while. I read all your posts if I see them and they are always helpful, even though your replies are not always for me.

    Thank you for your support.

  7. I'll take your advice. My concern to be honest is a mix of time of addiction and age. I'm 33. At 22 I felt that type of sexual energy you have. Either because of my addiction and/or my medication I don't feel that now. But I'm keeping on the path.

I am in some social leagues to go out and socialize - that was a huge burden I had with the pandemic because I live alone. I'll keep going with all of this though. Thanks much for your support.

Ironically, I also see an addiction therapist and a psychiatrist. I told my psyhchiatrist that I fear this would be permanent based on a post I saw here. She told me that unless you have a stroke or surgery - the brain is highly plastic and changes itself everyday. That helps me. She tends to think I am giving habits to myself I don't have - i.e. the PIED anxiety.

Next thing for me is physical exercise - I was at home working - and still do so being mobile isn't a frequent thing. I have a goal of working legs twice per week and the rest of my body with heavy lifting and HIIT. I want to get back into the shape I was in during my 20s, which isn't much because I'm not really out of shape - the medicine and staying home added weight to my mid section - but my testosterone isn't optimal - 484ng/dl. That's another worrier for me.

  11. Can you elaborate on an increase in ED while tapering off?

  12. I appreciate that. Part of what I'm having difficulty with is determining if all of this is due to PMO or just low libido in general? Make sense? I don't know...

  13. So show all forms of connection with real women - period.

  14. @WildEntheology - It's interesting how the brain works. I don't know WHAT it is - nocturnal erections are a thing for me in REM sleep. Morning woods out of bed? No longer a things since my 20s. But maybe its more of loss of libido because of the medicine. A side effect is definitely there, but the thought I had experienced was:

    1. I'll never be able to perform well in bed.
    2. If that happens the woman wont stay with me.
    3. If she doesn't stay with me I can't form a meaningful relationship, thus being alone.
    4. Being alone I won't have a family and will be alone forever.

The part you pointed out about pleasing her may be a key factor here. When I was 18 - while my body was more full of hormones for sex than now, I didnt even worry once about ED, even though I also had not M'ed or O'ed but did look at porn (but not as crazy as today's).
