I seem to fall into somewhat depressive episodes on a weekly basis. The thing is I don't feel like this 24/7. But probably multiple times a week I will begin to feel really low in mood. Another thing I notice when I feel this way is everything really seems to bother me, it really seems to aggravate my ocd when I feel this way. But then when I am feeling better the same things don't bother me anywhere near as much.

I have been on many psychiatric meds over the years, and to tell you the truth I don't really want to go on anymore psychiatric meds.

But I have read a bit about turmeric recently. There is tons of stuff online about it having tons of benefits, and one of the benefits that it seems to have is a big improvement in mood. Reports saying it is as effective as prozac for depression etc.

Another thing with turmeric that I find quite interesting is it seems to take exactly the same amount of time as SSRI anti depressants to improve your mental health. So 6 to 8 weeks is generally how long SSRI's take to start improving mental health, and the strange thing is this is how long is being reported it takes turmeric to improve mental health. But there is also evidence the SSRI's improve mental health because of their effect on brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). But apparently it takes between 6 to 8 weeks of doing something consistently that is increasing BDNF before you really begin to experience the benefits. Apparently turmeric causes these same BDNF brain changes. But so does aerobic exercise etc. But remember it seems to take 6 to 8 weeks of consistently doing one of these things for the brain changes to really happen.

I could be wrong about this, but this is my understanding of it.

But I have recently purchased high strength turmeric with black pepper capsules. Because black pepper seems to cause the turmeric to absorb much better.

So I am going to take 2 capsules a day for the next few months and see what happens, see if it does have the mental health benefits that are being reported.

Does anyone on here have much experience with Turmeric? Has anyone on here been taking, consuming turmeric for a while? If you have would you say the turmeric has really improved your mood?

Interesting-- not trying to change the topic on your post, but I have used St. Johns Wort, which has some successful clinical trials backing it. I have not used Turmeric, but I successfully quit smoking with St. Johns Wort. I'm not sure if it's made my mood more stable, as something like depression is hard to measure unless it's active (for me at least). Plus, I take lots of supplements and adjust my workout routine, I've been off porn and in a healthy relationship, so it's hard to say what's what, but the St. Johns Wort seems somewhat effective if I had to guess.

It's also cheap. Sorry again for knowing nothing about turmeric and depression.

  3. Turmeric is good it turns on your FOX03 expression with turns on a lot of good things in your body like autophagy, apoptosis and the creation of stem cells. Make sure you are taking vitamin D3 though because it's s necessary ingredient to get all these good processes in the body going.

I'm thinking of using turmeric to slow down hair growth in certain parts of my body, like the upper cheeks so I have a nice even beard line without needing to cut.

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but I didn't really notice much benefits from turmeric use. I took a high strength turmeric supplement which also contained piperine two times a day for about 3 months. It certainly didn't help my mental health, anxiety or depression anywhere near close to the level that an SSRI did.

thanks for your response. I was skeptical from the beginning.

  8. I have been taking liquid turmeric 1000mg/day for about 2 months. I take it as an anti-inflammatory alternative to motrin/ibuprofen, and, so far, I think the turmeric works better than they did. I hadn't heard about potential mood benefits from it, but I dont think it's made any difference for me as far as that goes.

research it a little bit. It’s interesting the benefits they are saying it has on the brain and in help of healing the brain. Not necessarily for past porn use but just in general.
