Hello all, I have been taking vyvanse, an ADD stimulant prescription drug for about 4.5 years. I am 22 years old, very fit and healthy. I suffered PIED about 6 months ago, and upon realizing that porn was the cause, about one month ago, I have started no PMO. I am on day 29. This has been fairly easy for me as I was not a heavy P user, but I started at a young age and do not have the neural pathways that respond well to a real woman's touch. I believe that my prescription has exacerbated my PIED as the drug releases dopamine to help with concentration. So, I am thinking that masturbation and the drug have flooded my brain over the years with dopamine causeing my receptors to build a tolerance and induce PIED.

My question/topic of conversation is about rebooting whilst on an ADD stimulant. Rebooting works because we restrict our brains from high levels of dopamine. This in turn will reduce the tolerance of the receptors and after a period of time and flatline reduce our dopamine receptivity, thus healing us and improving erections, correct? Wouldn't taking vyvanse/adderall during the reboot reduce the effectiveness of no PMO due to still unnaturally higher levels of dopamine? Does anyone have experience with this? I would love to hear any information, tips, or success stories of those who have cured their PIED while still on these drugs. Thank you all for reading and those that respond. I really desire to make a change and be normal again.

  3. Hi CollegeLad. I have ADHD as well and I'm 60 days in my reboot while taking Straterra. I've never heard of vyvanse before, is it an amphetamine like adderall? If it is you might want to think of switching to a norepinephrine based drug like Stratterra. Norepinephrine is synthesized from dopamine but norepinephrine drugs do not release dopamine like amphetamine based drugs.

I'm not and have never struggled with PIED but I can tell you that my reboot is going along fine and I don't believe it is taking any longer with the drugs. In fact, since I only started taking my ADHD medication about two months ago and was rebooting before that, I can tell you that the drugs are actually making my reboot easier. With the drugs I'm not suffering from abnormal dopamine lows, which means I'm not experiencing any withdrawal symptoms or powerful emotions that I might be tempted to regulate with a relapse. Porn addicts actually suffer from lower dopamine levels because the little doses of dopamine your body squirts out for normal everday stuff like eating or playing with your dog are replaced by the big splash you get with PMO. ADHD meds actually help bring your dopamine up to normal levels.

I'm no expert, but Dr. Todd Love is a porn addictions and adult ADHD expert. Maybe you would like to ask him? Here's the link to the thread where you can post questions he will answer in an interview with Alex: http://www.nofap.com/forum/index.ph...iction-and-rebooting.47333/page-4#post-329914
