I do not have the willpower to prevent myself from relapsing

    There was a period where I was relapsing every 5 days or so, but now I can't go 2 days without an incident. I can't tell my parents about this, so I can't pay for any blockers, or get anyone to set a password that I dont know. What can I do to get over my addiction? I already try to avoid triggers, but I just get the urge before I go to sleep.

    I would highly suggest to look into blocker solutions. I know you said you can't pay for any, but luckily there are ways to setup an efficient blocker regiment, which do not cost anything. Also there are solutions to store randomly generated passwords safely with a delay-based timer like https://lockbox.pluckeye.net/ or https://ptimelock.com/ , so no need for another person. There are ways to do it, but you have to a) decide you want to do this and b) put some effort into researching and setting things up properly.

    That's because willpower doesn't work in the first place.

    Going off porn on willpower is the same as putting food in front of a starving man, and advising them not to eat it.

    Your mindset needs to get to a level where "Abstaining from porn is not a sacrifice" as long as you keep craving porn in your mind, you'll keep failing over and over again.

    Adding onto this, I'm sometimes guilty of this, but simply sitting on your seat and not "transmuting" the energy is another mistake. Do something creative, like music composition, art, ect.

    Also people crap all over cardio such as long distance running. In my experience, only lifting and not running produces some monstrous hormone-fueled urges, while running can release all kinds of urges. Do not neglect cardio.

    You don't need to tell your parents a thing, this is your battle and you shall fight and win brother. Why the defeatism attitude dude?
    A porn blocker wouldn't be of no help to you because you can simply bypass at a whim.
    In contrast, learning about the mechanisms of how "Porn addiction works" is the best thing that you can do right now.
    From my experience as an addict myself, I have devised a method to help people break free from the chains of this filthy addiction; I have even gone as far as creating a Website.

  6. Parents are one thing, but it's helpful if you have trust for someone. You don't need to be black and white about it but you might want to start working on it.

    You also don't need to trust them with everything. People struggling or have struggled with this are likely to be sympathetic, but giving them the password for a blocker is also not the same as remote access to everything on your computer. It can be reset each time and so long that it's impossible to remember, you're not going to suddenly have photographic memory, probably brain fog if anything.

    Not if you spend some time researching and trial-and-error'ing. If you just download an app or something and expect that to be it, that won't do the trick obviously.

    What is helping me is reframing the urges/triggers and asking myself what the desire behing the desire to watch P is. Am I bored, am I stressed, etec. From that point I ask myself how I would act if I was a man I respected. If the urge comes from stress I'll tell myself that watching P will only alleviate the stress temporarily and I'll go for a walk instead for example.

  9. If you want to make a sculpture, you need perfect sand and perfect surrounding to make it. One more thing is also needed and that is Patience.

    Your pre frontal cortex is very weak now, i guess from your statement. So first you need to give it some rest. Just take a break from fap and nofap and just enjoy the life. After some days you must start the nofap journey. I know its not easy but its possible. Just avoid lusting and internet. Just eat your fav foods, have some good sleep, go for walks, etc etc give your brain a rest. Do this and come back.

    It may be true that you "do not have the willpower to prevent myself from relapsing" that would be addiction. If you have or can get the will power then use or get it respectively. If not you are a sex addict like me (it's possible but to not have the will power and not have to use pm+) Good luck! Let me know how it goes, seriously I really would like to know.
     
  13. recently it's been find out that, even in 30's the pre. Fro. Cort. Is growing or still maturing. So this part is the last brain part to stop the growth.

    Now how to build or repair PFC.?
    firstly, only neurneuroscientist can give an exact answer but i can give you some tips. This are more of an activities than tips.
    1. Fasting - it's been said that " the person who can control what he eats can control everything in his life" so with fasting you can slowly implement a will power. Saying no to a burgar,when hungary is somewhat same as saying no to porn on urge. As sex need come only after the food, still both are cravings.
    2. Saying no to urges without any urgekilling activities - in community, its been said that we must kill the urge by cold shower or some other things. But if you want to exercise your will power, you need to say NO directly to the urge by looking at it's face. Its the hardest thing in the world. But after 4-5 sessions of this, you will learn to quit porn by will power method.( i am sorry alan carr)
    3. Meditation - this is the main thing to do, it's a great tool to increase the willpwr.
    4. Do self improvement things which your brain say no sometime early morning coldshower is a hard thing, but you must do it and increase your willpower.
    5. By attacking the laziness and doing things the laziness is something which is attacking your willpower. So you need to attack the laziness to save the willpower
    6. Talking to people or strangers the fear inside of us must be addressed properly. Fear also work against willpower.
    7. Do things which you have fear or shy to do.
    8. Last but not least - workout. It's a must thing to do

    Thank you. I needed this, @Dr. Life rebuilder. Question though - does walking and/or small 5 lb. free weights for working out, work well? I refuse to go to a gym due to COVID right now and 5 lb. free weights are all I have.
