Hey guys. For the past 6 months I have been unhealthily playing a broken game with a lot of toxic people on it. I have been unable to stay away from it and I often find myself raging and wasting time by being toxic online and raging at toxic people. I want to escape this game and live my life, but it is negatively impacting my mental health. Does anyone else have a problem with this?

Dude I went down the esports wannabe rabbit hole as well, no shame there, we've all thought it. What got me out was the fundamental realization that all I was doing was pattern recognition, so I just switched lanes into finding work that involves being paid to find patterns. Viola, easy as pie. I find it hard to consider that I am mostly wrong in online video games and people pick on me even if I trigger them slightly.

I suggest to stop playing Online games, i just hate them and they are destroying kids brains (Just watch Fortnite) in a similar way of Porn.
I played a lot of Overwatch but now i deleted my account, is not worth to get mad on online games.

Yeah. If I want to play a video game, it might be single player like a COD campaign, Minecraft, or terraria.

I’ve had problems with that too.

Toxic people, cheesers, cheaters, trolls, glitch users, etc.

Depends what kinda player you are.

Turns out, I’m more of an explorer, so I enjoy that type of gameplay more. Minecraft, Civilization, Lego Star Wars, Zelda BOTW.

I’d stay away from PvP. More PvE and co-op.

Some games are more stressful playing with random players than with family and friends.

Even Mario Kart can be more stressful than Fortnite.

While some FPS games like CS:GO can be less stressful.

    Hope that helps.

I stopped playing competitive multiplayer games a couple of years ago, when I realized I was raging more than I was having fun. That's not a good deal. Since then I only play either singleplayer of coop games and enjoy it a lot more again. On the rare occassions, when I do play multiplayer games, I rage much less because I just don't care anymore. In the past I was so focused on stats and all that, that a single bad round made my whole day bad. That's not happening anymore.
