Is it crazy? It is, but I'm doing it regardless. I'm aware this isn't for everyone, and perhaps no one reading this will want to try it themselves, and I have no problem with that. But I'm thinking at least you'll be interested just as something interesting.

In the past I considered the more known chemical castration, which is taking a drug to severely lower testosterone (several options out there), but I decided against it due to the severe side effects low testosterone has.

More recently though I learned about aromatase inhibitors. They actually increase testosterone because it hinders the body ability to convert it to estrogen (estrogen comes from testosterone), and as a result more testosterone is left in your body. And for some reason, which is unknown, it tends to greatly decrease male libido. The effect on testosterone levels are not that big, far lower than drugs taken for TRT, but it does increase it a bit and for me that is a bonus. I don't have low testosterone but I'm just a tad lower than the upper range of considered healthy, and I've been working about quite a bit lately and that will help to get some quicker results.

I have done my research, read several papers on it. I won't share these details, do your own research if you are interested, and if you come across paywalled articles, just use sci-hub.se

On Wednesday I had blood drawn to measure

    1. Total Testosterone
    2. Estrogen (E2)
    3. Lipid panel (Total Cholesterol, LDL, HDL and Triglycerides). One of the possible side effects is a slight elevation of cholesterol, but I'm well within healthy range, but I'll keep monitoring this too
On the same day I also have taken my first dose, after the blood was drawn.

My objective is to get my estrogen as low as possible within the range considered acceptable.

To that I'll be taking Anastrozole. Typically this is used to treat breast cancer or prevent it in high risk populations. So it's common that people take this for years. The typical dosage is 1mg per day. I'm taking 0.5mg per day only for the first week and then I plan to make it every other day for an additional week and later on 0.25mg every other day, but this plan might change depending on later lab results. If it doesn't work out to decrease my libido or I have more than very minor side effects, that's fine, I'll just stop it. Also my intentions initially is do this for around a year or so only and then slowly come out of it, I think having a decreased libido for that period of time will be enough for a change in mindset and self control. And why I'm doing this? Well, I've just grown tired of women even to seek sex. I far from being an incel, I'm 33, and already have been married, and had my share of sex experiences. And to satisfy my high libido lately I just masturbate, which I have no pride on saying it's done in an excessive manner.

Wish me luck and me let know if you guys would like to hear updates on the experiment I'll be running on myself...

if you are a PMO addict, how about abstaining from it first to see if you go through some changes? Maybe you wouldnt need any medicine?
Many people have reported unbelievable developments once they stopped PMO. It can do wonders

I'm not sure I perfectly fit this session but thought would be the best fit for my thread.
I have abstained from sex for some years now, and I find this reasonably easy as long as I continue masturbating. I'm more of a loner and I likely have schizoid personality disorder, I fit all the parameters except having a high libido. So the process of getting laid for me is just extremely tiring and uninteresting. My last of period of sexual activity ended in 2019 and it mainly involved hookers due to this.

I have abstained from masturbation only on some rare times and they were never longer than about a week or so and I always relapse. And I mainly consume extreme porn.

To be more direct, if possible I would just choose to have no libido at all, it's just not worth it for me. The only reason I didn't do the more known chemical castration is the severe side effects of low testosterone.

well it is not like that people with high libido go around have sex all the time. We are made to have a control over our libido. And that is most effective that you have a high libido and you dont do anything about it and finally you master it. nofap let you direct your energy to other areas of life which you have been missing before

Not everyone is able to accomplish it through willpower. And I would also add people on nofap rarely have the objective of having no libido. They just want to channel it to healthy relationships, and I don't want that either.

  6. Is this medication a doctor prescribed you or are you DIYing? If the latter I'd encourage you to talk to a doctor and do this under medical supervision. Medications have risks associated with them, and it's dangerous to take them with medical guidance. I see you are doing regular bloodwork and that's good, but you really need to be doing this with a doctor.

Also please recognize that while you may kill your libido and that may help you abstain for longer periods of time; unless you change your habits and root out the behavioral patterns in your life that cause you to seek out porn, you will quite easily go back to porn after you quit taking your meds. This isn't a permanent solution. At best it give you a period of respite so that you can work on yourself and do the work necessary to learn how to live a life without porn. As long as you are going into this with that mindset, and being monitored by a doctor, I see no issue with this. It's your journey, you do what you think is best for your recovery.

I'm not talking to a doctor because there is no doctor that would agree to this, he could even lose his medical license, at least here in my country.
In my country this drug doesn't require a prescription, but in most countries they are required. I'm glad for that.
And I'm fully aware of the possible dangers I'm facing doing this, I'm as capable as any doctor, if not more, of reading scientific peer reviewed papers on this specific drug and aromatase inhibitors in general. But I understand the worry, I'm just not the average person. I think this can be exemplified by me doing a blood panel as baseline for this specific drug with no guidance from anyone. This thread is not advise, I'm not responsible for anyone else trying this.

Regarding what happens after, I'm aware of the very real possibility I might relapse. And if it happens then I will find it preferable to just deal with it. I won't risk my health by being on this drug for the rest of my life, even if during this year I don't have side effects or they are very minor it's a different thing to take it for the rest of my life, there would be consequences.
And I find it a bit unlikely that I wouldn't be able to at least cut back on frequency and stop with extreme porn if it works to suppress my libido for that long - even the libido suppression is not a sure thing to work. The only way to find out is doing this.

    No thanks

  10. I feel like this is a sign of mental illness, to hate a part of yourself this much is a sign of a bigger issue. Honestly you don't need to fuck with your hormones to be happy. Just have more control, or at least build up to it. Every time you relapse aim to be 1 or 10 percent better, it's working for me. Just remember people live the lifestyle you want without castrating themselves. There are Buddhist monks who don't have sex or masturbate and dont mess with their hormones.

I'll be interested to hear how this goes as I greatly believe that for men, libido is tied to your drive for life in general and not just for sex. You may eliminate the urge for sex but you may also just end up with no motivation for anything.

You probably think that because the most common cause for low libido in men is low testosterone or depression and that also causes low energy in general.
Is every assexual man low energy? Nope.
So while this is a possibility so far it hasn't happened and my libido is already lower than normal, effects are relatively quick to happen with this drug. I have been masturbating less for the first days and today I didn't even feel the desire to. Let's see how this evolve

Please read my first reply. It does involve what is considered mental illness. It has no cure and I just consider a type of personality, but this isnt the mainstream medical definition.
Also, this isn't considered castration, since it doesn't lower testosterone, quite the opposite, it boosts it.

  14. If some experimental drug is the answer to your personal problem, it's probably not a good idea.

My usage is experimental, it itself isn't though.
And it's happening, I have no problem with people sharing their opinions but these aren't changing the course of this.

Damn, yesterday I decided to start with every other day dose and I relapsed and my orgasms were absurdly intense. A lot more intense than with my past NoFap periods which lasted up to a week. One of those was probably the most intense orgasm I had in my life hahahaha.
I'll drop the every other day regimen and just make the doses proportionally smaller. I can do that with ease because I have a miligram scale, the 1mg pill I'm buying weights 103mg on average, due to binders, it varies about 1mg between then which is actually quite little. I have been cutting then in half and weighting anyway because I used 0.5mg from the start. I'll cut it to 0.25mg on Thursday, and probably about a week later to 0.12mg

This is interesting. I also wish I had the ability to become completely asexual without the downsides of having low testosterone.

Well, I decided to cut this experiment short for a few reasons
    - I got my lab results before starting, and my estradiol levels are not worrying low, but I'm at the lower range, which makes this a bit more dangerous and prone to side effects - 18pg/mL. Accepted range is between 10 and 40. Below 10 is considered deficient and below 20 is not very common although no intervention is recommended by the medical literature.
    - I could only achieve libido suppression with 0.5mg daily. I first tried dropping to 0.5mg every other day and it didn't work out, and I also tried dropping it to 0.25mg every day, which also didn't. At this required dosage given my initial estradiol levels I decided against continuing. And more importantly, at that dosage I was having some minor body aches, I exercise somewhat heavily and having some minor body aches here are there are not rare but I noticed the frequency and intensity increased, especially the frequency, nothing close to being incapacitating or anything, I kept on with my exercise routine, that's the only side effect I noticed.

So I'm cutting this experiment short due to a personal cost benefit analysis.
