Hi, does anyone turn anxious, especially in public places when first starting the 90 day challenge? what can I do to prevent this sudden onset of anxiety? I have tried deeply exhaling which helps, but what else can I do? Thanks

Hey dude. I get anxious even when I'm not on NoFap. If breathing helps your anxiety, then you can also try tightening all the muscles in your body for 30-60 seconds and then slowly loosen them. You can also try to soften the situation internally by telling yourself things like "Oh, it's just my silly anxiety acting up nothing to worry about."

Calmly ask yourself why are you anxious in the first place. Go on the edge of celebrating your anxiety, and try to eliminate or overcome the reason. Think of it as a challenge, not an obstacle.
This mindset of mine is tricky, but quite rewarding.

Yeah I think you're right. I honestly never thought i'd have an 'addiction' to anything. guess thats what happens when you don't know the scientific effects of PMO'ing before doing it.

Shellder, do you mean whenever I start to feel anxious I should tell myself it's a sign im going through recovery, and I should try and accept it and handle it in the short term? also how long does it last on average? im currently on 7 days no PMO. Thanks

So far i havent felt urges that are too strong, but then that usually happens are around day 9/10. So far I have been rationalising to myself if I cant stop for myself, I need to stop for others such as my family. That way I start off with a less selfish and more clear mindset.

I have been watching documentaries on how the porn industry is so vile and can lead all sorts of extreme genres. It can even be seen as the reason for the surge in cyber sex crimes all over the world. I'm sure because of forums like this, and people who go on to become involved in helping addicts the epidemic will eventually be sorted out. Hopefully many that recover go on to help the abused sex workers and porn/ex-pornstars around the world. That would be the ultimate aim right?

Sorry went off on a tangent there?

I believe that anxiety is often a subconsious issue that need to be addressed in order to self-improve. During recovery you're more prone to it, due to inabillity to deal with stress other than masturbate (which injects dopamine in your brain).
First of all, consious self-improvement and dealing with issues is good, not only for porn-addicted people. Secondly, after some time you might develop another ways of coping with stress and fear, and that is probably the thing you wanted to know the most.

I don't want to claim any truth, it's what helped me.
