Is using NoFap forums for too long unhealthy?

I think I'm going to treat NoFap.com as a chapter of my life. Or just the NoFap in general. I am currently doing well, I can shut down problematic urges or reconsiderations of my abstinence now. I still need the site, a lot. But my goal is to be able to move on, one day. I will for sure stay here until at least a year of full no pmo. But after that I don't want to be trapped within the bounds of this site when I have no need for it. And yes I have already seen a lot of the toxic people here, sometimes they intentionally drag others down, sometimes not. But I don't want to die while still being trapped here. And I don't want porn addiction to consume the majority of my life, so I'm trying to end things right here, right now.

I definitely think you can be addicted to NoFap. Infact, after you brought it up, I'm also seriously wondering about it. NoFap is at the end of the day no different from any social media site. And long term, if your sobriety is tied to others and not internal, that can also be an issue. I think spending time on this forum is a thousand times better than watching P/ doing PMO, but I think after 90 days, when many of my challenges are completed, I might seriously consider limiting the time I spend here on the forum.

Exactly. It's that alert button that gets me. It almost recreates the dopamine spike I used to get from follow requests or dms on snapchat and instagram.

I think you are exactly right with this. It does the exact same thing that notifications do on any other social media platform, too. Seeing that little red icon gives us a little boost. What is it? Maybe a response to something I said, a like maybe? What could it be? I must admit, that in the past I found myself posting something and then desperatly waiting for any sort of reaction, sometimes wasting hours of time in the process. As I said before, I stopped doing that a while ago and I only come here every couple of days mainly to respond to DMs. I think this forum can be very helpful - especially in the beginning when you don't really understand the addiction yet - but we all need to be careful not to fall into the next trap. In my eyes, it's better to be here a lot than on Twitter, but in the end does it really make such a big difference where you keep scrolling? I think the forum should be a tool in your recovery but not another escape from reality. I think we have enough of those already.
