Is there anything out there, that can block the window titles of programs like Cold Turkey can? I want to have a backup, just in case... I know that Plucky can block programs by filename, absolute path, or directory; but not by window title, which is honestly the best way to block a program, imho (edit: well eh... it is much more nuanced than that actually... but let's leave it at that). At the same time, Plucky is also not super compatible with Cold Turkey, so, yeah...

I am using both together with no issues. If you want another app, try k22 process blocker: https://www.haascomputers.com/our_software However, you need to protect it using anvi, protect its service if you need you need to, etc.

Are you using plucky's system feature though? If you look up 'Incompatibility | Plucky manual' (can't post links), it states that with it (the system feature), CT and plucky are incompatible...

Thanks for the suggestion! What do you mean by 'anvi' btw? Didn't find anything, looking the term up...

Yeah, I have the system feature on with no problems at all.
    Anvi:
    https://www.filehorse.com/download-anvi-folder-locker/download/
Just make sure you set protected files to read only

Why, that's good to hear! Wouldn't one still be able to terminate the process through Task Manager though?

It doesn't work this way, don't worry, it's foolproof.

Splendid. I've tried adding hosts into it today, but the 'etc' folder of hosts, just doesn't seem to want to show/display, despite 'Show hidden files' being enabled...

UPDATE: adding the 'hosts' file through the right-click Windows menu, is the way to go for this.
Would sure be nice if it had the export/import feature btw... but oh well.

is 'pluck + norecovery' a new option? I could have sworn I didnt see that when I tried pluckeye a few months back. Pluckeye was great and the best blocker I tried but I easily got around it sadly by just doing a full reset on my PC. Just tried setting up pluckeye again when I seen that function earlier and did some tests and cant actually see how to reset my PC at all even using the method I did last time when the urges got too strong and tried a few others, really cant see how to reset my PC now without being a tech expert. Feeling very optimistic this time :)

Seriously Sinner76 thanks a lot for this. I've been at this for more than a decade now and so fucking sick of it, each relapse is just pissing me off and getting me down more and more. I must be a seriously weak willed person cos I just cant beat this demon with will power alone but this time feels different with how locked down it all is now!!

My forticlient installation was recently locked with a password that isn’t the one my wife used to install. Is it possible the embed file you shared for FortiClient 7.0 had a password embedded? If so, can you PM me that password so I can use it and then replace it the password my wife uses. FortiClient 7.0 makes it a lot harder for us as non enterprise users to use it.

Hi, is there a way to block installing windows through USB (windows media installation) because that will remove any blocker? I tried making changes to the UEFI BIOS but these can simply be resetted.
I also thought of veracrypt but if that requires the ecryption key everytime you access windows then that will not work.
    Thanks in advance

@Alwsgy If I understand you correctly, you are asking for a way to make it impossible to reinstall your OS. If so, I'm not aware of any way to make that impossible and for good reason: That would basically mean, that your entire system bricks if your OS breaks for whatever reason. Even if it would be possible, I would highly advise against that.

I understand your thought process, but I would also say that such an approach is just "too much". Blockers are meant to be an aid, not a solution. If you are willing to reinstall your entire OS just to be able to view porn, I think you should try other methods. It's not wise to rely entirely on software to control your impulses, at least I don't think it is. Nevertheless, I wish you good luck in your journey.

Mate, don't mention it, we're all together in this. And no, you're not a weak-willed person..

If system reset is causes any problems to you in the future, you might want to completely delete the recovery partition.

Why entering a password is a problem?

I haven't embedded any passwords. Are you sure you're using FortiClient 7.0? If yes, then you could just login to EMS and remove the device from there.

Hi, is there a way to block new domains with dn-secure without disabling, & reenabling dn-secure ? disabling just makes me relapse. does it reload/refresh blocked-names.txt automatically ? or a remote blocklist ?

The idea of DN-Secure is to set it and forget it. If you want sth that allows you to add blocked sites without unlocking the blocker then try pluckeye

You need the admin password to install most apps, including these blockers, unfortunately.

Hey mate, to install windows you need to be able to boot from your USB device.
Which you can block using bios (even if you do not have this or similar option in bios: https://prnt.sc/M8lF0Ur7VpkG)
What you can do is block the bios menu entirely by setting a password to it : https://www.wikihow.com/Set-a-BIOS-Password#:~:text=Create a BIOS password.,or "Set User Password".
    Hope that helps
