I've set up Screen Time on my iPhone exactly how I want it, and I've set myself a passcode that I don't know to lock the changes.

I've since discovered that this "passcode" can be changed or turned off in under a minute. This can be done if I know my Apple ID, password, phone number, or even the passcode I use to unlock my phone. It's ridiculous how easy they've made it.

    I've looked at alternative options:
    1. Put myself under a family sharing account. I would first have to change my age to be under 13, and even then I don't have anyone to be my organizer.

    2. Log out of iCloud. If I log out of iCloud on my phone then I can't reset my screen time passcode. But then I would lose access to photos, mail, messages, etc.

    3. Supervise the iPhone. It is possible to lock screen time using MDM software, but that seems to erase the iPhone in the process, which I don't want.

Has anyone been successful in setting up Screen Time so that it can't be turned off so easily? I'm getting pretty desperate.

  2. Have someone else, preferably a family member or friend who understands what you're going through, put in their own code along with their own alternative screen time password reset iCloud account. This is the only I've actually successfully used screen time to my full advantage against porn; otherwise you will always find a way around it.

Sorry, I'm still a little confused. Can you walk me through how to go about doing this, step by step? It would be much appreciated.

I know its an old thread, but just sign out of iCloud on your phone and you'll be able to setup screen time how you want and there will be no way to recover if you forget the passcode for it. Get a friend to set a random passcode or set one and use hypnosis to make yourself forget the number (easy enough if you know how). Job done!!

In fact, if the latter two methods are workable, you could back up your data before operating them. So you don't have to worry about data loss. If none of them is helpful, just use third-party tools to bypass it. Some of them, such as Joyoshare software, claim that your data will be preserved well. I did use it before to remove my screen lock, and it worked. Maybe you can give it a try.

Hi, you may have found a way that works for you, but I’d encourage you to look at device supervision. It’s true as you say you need to wipe your device, which is a bit of a hassle, but you can within the space of an afternoon, recreate your device to exactly how you had it.
I’ve just written a post (see my profile) about how to do this and the benefits this brings.
