    How did March go? Whether good or bad, it's a new month and a new opportunity to focus on your goals!

    The purpose of this thread is to provide Rebooters with a place to share their commitment to abstaining from particular sexual behaviors throughout the entire month. Although it is strongly recommended to make a public commitment, posting in this thread is not required for participation in a reboot.

    New to reboot? Here are some suggestions:

    1. Learn about porn addiction, excessive masturbation, and abstaining from PMO (a process called "reboot" or "rebooting"). Our free Getting Started guide that is advertised everywhere is a great option.
    2. Decide if abstaining from PMO is something that you really want. If you don't buy into the process 100%, you'll probably not make it through the month. If you have decided that you would like to participate, proceed to step three.
    3. Sign up for this month by replying to this thread.
    4. Consider setting up a PMO-tracking day counter to monitor your progress.
    5. Create a Journal Thread and share your progress periodically, preferably on a daily basis. Not only does this help you stay accountable, it documents valuable anecdotal evidence that will ultimately help other people going through similar situations in the future.
    6. Ask questions and get support by posting on NoFap. Help others, too, if you are able to.
    Would you like to participate? If so, please reply to this thread with the following information.
    • Are you not going to allow yourself to masturbate? View porn? Orgasm whatsoever? Not allowing any outlet for sexual release is dubbed "hard mode". For a full list of parameters, see our Rebooting 101 page.
    • How long do you want this challenge to last? By default it is one month, but 90 days is recommended for rebooting. You can't know how long it will take to "rewire" your brain, it widely varies due to individual circumstances. Some people require a year or longer to regain sexual function.
    • What are your goals?
    • Why are you doing this?
    Coming in after this month has already started?

    Don't panic - it is not a problem. Users sign up for NoFap's rebooting events all months long. Just follow the instructions above and jump in at any time by replying to this thread.

    Let's go for a full month ! i started 5 days ago in PM mode, and at the same time i started the "5 min journal" which is really helping me to keep a strong and positive psychology. The hardest urges moments are when i'm alone and when i'm frustrated about anything, so I do workout stupidly for 5 min untill i can think about somthing else again
     
  3. It's a new beginning, so I'm committing to stay PMO-free this month! Even though my ultimate NoFap goal is staying PMO-free for 90 days, this thread is a stepping stone to reach that. I had a slip-up last night and realized that most of my resets occur around 10 PM or later each night. Even worse whenever I can't go to sleep due to being fapstinent. Nevertheless, I will try again!

    Hello guys!

    I’m new to reboot on NoFap and have just discovered the great ‘Getting Started’ brochure. Though I had created my account ten years ago, i did not return here until now! (gosh - how quickly time goes by! :-o )


    I’m herewith signing up for the April challenge:

    • I commit to no-P for the entire month of April 2024 (P being in the broad sense any arousing text or image), allowing MO possibly once a week but without fantasizing to P
    • I have set a day counter (started on 29 March 2024)
    • I have scheduled for myself a reminder 2 days before the end of the month to define & communicate my subsequent (possibly harder?) challenge
    • I will create a journal thread (where do I post this?)
    • I’m looking for an accountability partner to mutually check in every few days - contact me!
    • I’m still trying to figure out what is the best logbook/tracker format for me, whether a paper grid (I created one in 2018, a bit too complicated: tracked several healthy habits in parallel) or a journal app? So far i started with a small piece of paper in my backpack. Suggestions welcome!

    • Why am I doing this? To explore whether I can become more motivated, committed and inspiring in my job and reinvigorate my relationship and social interactions in general. To become less of a ‘nice guy’, more of a self-confident, decisive, impactful man.
    Btw, i’m 55, married, with grown up children. Central European timezone.

    I am going to go Hard mode. For the time being, I'll focus on this month only, but once I am done, I will extend it to 3 months and further. I'll take the challenge one day at a time and just stay in the moment. Steps I will take to avoid triggers is keeping my internet devices outside my room at night. During the day, I will need to use them for my studies but I'll make sure I avoid any social media as it will bring about triggers. Steps I will take to cope with urges once they arise are counting my breath, quickly distracting myself, leaving my room etc. I do realize that strategy alone is not sufficient, nor is willpower alone sufficient. A combination of both is required to overcome this addiction. I will use my willpower to stop myself from misusing the internet during the day. I will get to bed on time and wake up early because it will make me more productive as well as more well-rested both of which are very important for recovery. I have already got rid of my headphones , I won't get new ones anytime soon but I do realize that I will probably need to get them one day , so I must develop self discipline and rely on my willpower rather than the absence of headphones. I will also start working on my internet addiction in general. I will keep posting here regularly , ideally everyday.

    I completed Day 8. Practically did not think about porn at all , but slept little. Had once a tiny little bit of intimacy with my wife and masturbated once a week ago. Had a hard time to concentrate on my work, often walked up and down the room restlessly reflecting and reading about mental health, my relationship, about how to respond to peers in Nofap, discovering this forum’s structure…

    I like that 5 min workout! Tell me, what is “5 min Journal?”
    Stepping stone - yep, that was also my thinking: set short-spaced realistic targets so you can more often and more likely earn yourself a ‘badge’ to boost confidence. Go for a week (almost done), continue for a month, another month, then hit the 90 days , etc.

    Hello

    The 5 min journal is a method you can download online as a pdf or E book (or you can order the book). that make you work on your positive mentality, it gives you some easy exercises that trick your mind in a positive way.

    I Had a rellapse sunday after an argument with my girlfriend, and an other one yesterday after an argument with my dad. Today i need to find out what to do when somebody i care about piss me off, whatever he or she is right or not that's. I need to prepare a rootine/process that I can start directly when i feel a situation like those, (little yoga and workout won't be enough to calm me down but it can be part of it), I need something bad, something with adrenaline, that can feed my alter ego just enough, but it cannot be something as bad as masturbating and watching porn.
    If you guys have any ideas that can help me creating this process, you're welcome !

    I can feel with you, that is all too common. The great thing is that you are reflecting about triggering situations and have been able to identify them! :):emoji_clap:
    I don’t have a perfect recipe to be honest. A good thing to try is perhaps to phone or walk by any buddy/neighbour/colleague you trust, ask them how they are going and tell them right away that you have a bad day coz’ you are mad at xyz and simply need to vent. Or take the bike or go running for a long streak. Good luck and stay strong , you’ll make soon again a longer streak!:emoji_v:

    (Day 12 of no erotica)
    I was angry with myself last night. I did not look at anything erotic, instead i have spent few hours reading here on nofap … and went to bed at 2:30am, despite having set alarms to go to bed at 23h :(
    So this morning no way I could do my planned running training before work. Need to catch up on this :emoji_runner: late afternoon today and become more diligent with bedtime.
    Also a bit frustrating to see that there are so many guys here who are shaming each other or who think that they need to play thought police. And surprisingly many young guys who even believe their attraction to girls was ‘caused’ by their early consumption of porn … :emoji_hushed:… come on ….

    After reading your response i see that the only idea of calling a friend in a moment like this makes me nervous, i will try that next time. Runnning might be a good option too, i'll add it in my "post being pissed off process".

    Thankyou for the encouragement!! I was away from home and internet for these past days so it helped me get to 12 days very easily. Now I must make full use of this opportunity that has come to me because the first two weeks are the hardest and I have already completed them without any effort. I must focus on one day at a time now and keep in mind the negativity and regret that PMO brings. I must stick very strictly to the rules I set earlier. I have got a lot of work to do so I can keep myself busy very easily , I just need to avoid being lazy. I need to make active effort to beat the internet addiction also in addition to the PMO addiction. For that too, I have this golden opportunity because I have been away from the internet for more than a week already which means the hardest phase has passed and I have got a kickstart. All I need now is to give my self a push by making an active effort.

    (Day 21 of ‘no’ Erotica)!?
    Ouch, yesterday has been tight! :(
    I had a number of cool and relaxed days, almost flatlined. Traveling to meet people was good and distracting. Also the sports.
    But yesterday, bored from a tedious tidying up task alone, I ended up reading for 15…20minutes an erotic story, text only. I mast… not fall into the trap! I also caught myself googling for things like biographies or impact analyses of famous authors of a certain kind, or research about sexuality that has something arousing , or prompting an AI text generator in the hope that it spits out something more explicit than what I had put into the prompt — no, no….

    i have to stay very firm now : no P or Psubs in the broadest sense AND no MO until at the very least the end of this month !! And i remind myself that i have a reason for this: to reserve my sexuality for actual real-life human-human encounters, not for staying in a lone rabbit hole. This is worthwhile the effort. Keep your fingers crossed for me.:emoji_pray: Thanks guys!
