Edging when sleeping?

    Hi guys
    I've been trying with nofap for a while now and I've made steady progress. However, as my streaks have gotten longer, i've ran into this issue where i'll 'wake up' in the middle of the night. However, it's not to the point where i'm fully awake and i'll be very drowsy and sort of zoned out. When I 'wake up', I start edging myself. I'm conscious enough to stop myself from finishing but i'll get an edging cycle in, and i'll just go back to sleep. I did wear a belt to bed to combat this and it seemed to have helped as i'd run into that barrier and id just go back to sleep. However, now i'm conscious enough to take the belt off? I'm not sure if this is because I used to fap a lot at night and this is just my body trying to force the continuation of this habit. Just to be clear, there is no porn involved. The thought of it doesn't cross my mind. I have been meditating but it has only helped with my urges during the day and not at that moment of time.

    Any help would be appreciated :)

    I am just stating what I think is happening here, it sounds like the body is simply acting on sexual urges in the unconscious. It is like when somebody attempts to hit a person that has been physically hit or abused before. Their body reacts by flinching, and this is simply because the body is reacting to a prior experience.

    So where we have spent years masturbating regularly, the pathways in the brain become deep pathways turning the action into a habit or urge. Also when we are asleep, we are unconscious, meaning all the contents of the subconscious mind is played out.

    I think going for a belt and meditation are both positive moves, as you recover, you should see that the activity minimises. However I don't think there are specific methods that can surely prevent the action from happening.

    I had this happen to me, as I used to edge before sleeping and immediately after waking up, my brain got used to it, when I started NoFap, I had this happen to me every single night, but as time passes, and as I went from masturbating every single day to sometimes once every 2 weeks, sometimes once a month etc, it became less frequent, it now happens to me but not every single day, sometimes once a week, sometimes once every 3 days, but that is a big progress comparing to every single day. I think by time, if you stop edging consciously, your brain will stop doing it consciously.
    And as the gentleman above said, I don't think there are specific methods that can surely prevent the action from happening, but wearing a belt might help, pay attention so that the belt doesn't harm you
     
  4. I have the problem but only worse, I tie my shorts drawstring in knots and I’ll wake up to find them untied and I have ejaculated. This just happened the other night. It’s the worse feeling in the world, especially for me since I’m pretty sure my skin is allergic to my own seed. I feel completely awful afterwards. I have started meditating for a full twenty minutes before bed in addition to reading Bible verses and praying about it. While meditating I try to reinforce my subconscious against self stimulation by feeling my hand and body and trying to become very conscious and directed so when I fall asleep I’ll remember not to put my hand down there. Of course this is all my fault for years of learning this horrible horrible wicked awful terrible trash habit which has wrecked gutted destroyed and taken everything I have to the point where I’ve given up all interests and hobbies to just focus on semen retention. I’m so mad and irritated at myself and this lustful world around me and I want nothing to do with society or any of this crap. I just want to walk in the woods with a full set of balls and a calm mind, being one with nature. So yea it’s a problem for me too. Sorry that you all are also dealing with it. I’m also doing everything in my power to smash put down quench ignore and defeat my annoying hormonic desires by sleeping a lot, taking soymilk, drinking beer, taking hops, cold showers, long walks in the mountains, sleepy time herbal tea, journaling daily, pre-bedtime routines, never looking at a women and not even my own wife in a lustful way, drinking peppermint, flaxseed, pumpkin seed, and avoiding like the plague all coffee, peanuts, cashews, lack of sleep, getting all “motivated”, social interaction, the internet, society, hot showers, lifting weights to look like a stupid jacked jackass, and all that crap.

    I dont have this problem as bad as you all but one suggestion - plastic zip ties.
    They are cheap, durable, and cant be removed without a sharp object like scissors, which you can keep in another room. You can put a zip tie through the belt buckle and around a belt clip part of the pants. It would be *extremely* hard to remove without being fully awake.
