Should I take a cold shower in chilly weather? Right now the temperatures in my area are around 40 degrees Fahrenheit. In the night the temps are in the 30s. I didn't want to get sick from taking a cold shower during this winter season, but I am currently experiencing lack of motivation and severe brain fog. I don't know what else I can do besides taking cold showers and exercising to improve my motivation/concentration. Any advice would be appreciated.

I did 30 days of cold showers in the Winter when the water is at its coldest. Quite brutal, but doesn't get you sick.

  3. Well, remember that the meaning behind taking a cold shower is going out of your comfort zone, place yourself in a situation where you will feel uncomfortable and the only thing your brain will tell you is make it stop. You get all the steps of quitting PMO in 15mns: fear, doubt, rationalizing, then when you push yourself the doubts will be louder then it all go away. This is what quitting PMO is all about, facing those emotions and pain you tried to hide with it and getting over it stronger and stronger, everyday. ;)

Its just your brain making excuses. If it is freezing cold, you can turn it up until it reaches the normal cold water temperature which is probably like 50 degrees F. Its going to suck but you will feel great afterwards.

I have been bathing in cold water for this year's winter and believe me, it might be painful at first but it actually gives you some kind of resistance to the cold.
I once went to a hilly area where the weather was cold, we had a picnic and I woke up and took a cold water bath at 5 a.m, later when I went outside I was just wearing a 3/4th pant and a jacket. People were wearing 2 layers of jacket and some thick/woollen jeans and still feeling chilly but I was standing there like a boss. I couldn't find a logical reason but connected to the fact that they all had not taken a bath while I had and here I was standing in the winter without a problem.

There's nothing magic about cold showers. Some fapstronauts find them useful as distractions from urges, but I doubt that they can give one motivation or cure brain fog. Even for urges, I've been able to manage well without cold showers. (I'm not about to take a really cold shower!)

cold showers helped me with my depression. a friend said it takes your system to a new level. it's equivalent to tremendous work out or electric shock. as in the cold shower signals the brain: 'emergency cold water detected. very cold. emergency. being cell vibrating to generate heat. forget depression or other issues and focus on cold water ahead.'
the above thing is just a guess. but cold showers motivated me a lot, at least for an hour or so.

I like cold showers. They are pushing me further and since i start with them - it could be like 30days already, my mood is getting better. My body feels stronger even we have winter here - around 30°F - and I have no problem at all. I just make sure i dry my hair and that is it!

Cold showers are great IMHO, someone doesnt like them, it is always up to you. But If I were you I would give the try at least for 30days (you know, it takes time to build up a habit) and if you like it - you continue, if you dont... you see my pattern :)

    Keep up!
