Seriously though, I think the premise of the Thread is that there are no consequences to a relapse or reset. If I use porn, I will simply reset my counter.

However, we must balance this with kicking ourselves too hard, becoming depressed and feeling worthless during a reset or relapse. This is a ticking time-bomb for even another relapse and so forth.

I think there should be some level of embarrassment with resetting the counter. I also think that for a little while we should tell that the person not to be discouraged. But after some time, I think we need to call the person out and tell them that they are not even trying. Sometimes Mama Bird, when teaching her chicks how to fly, must push them out of the nest. The chick will either learn to fly or come crashing down.

Although we face a dark addiction, we need to take some responsibility for our lack of self-control.
