Game Of Thrones

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, May 2, 2016.

  1. Would you count GoT as a p sub? I know every episode pretty much contains nudity but it doesn't make me want to PMO.

Dude you can't just go through life constantly avoiding things because you're afraid of their being nudity in it.

The problem is not that you saw p-subs, it's if you're purposely searching for them to get off on.

If you like GoT then watch it! If there's a naked girl in it then no big deal! As long as it doesn't lead to you searching for porn then it doesn't matter.

A few decades ago GoT would definitely be universally viewed as pornography. Today definitions have changed due to the pornification of culture. If by 2036, culture has reached the point where something which is actually genuine hardcore pornography is featured in a mainstream popular TV show - would we then say "oh its not porn"? Surely when it comes to defining pornography, we should use logic and our personal judgement rather than buying the definitions of a pornified culture?

If it doesn't trigger you then NO.
    amazing show... Love it

  5. Thought much. Just wanted to see what others would say.

  6. I am a lot older than most of the guys here. I can remember JO while waiting to get a glimpse of Ginger on Gilligans Isalnd . TV sure has changed. Shows like Vikings and Dexter have many sex scenes .Just last night I was watching Banshee and there were some scenes that sure would have qualified as soft core porn. Even if I wasn't trying to quit PMO or MO these scenes wouldn't be enough or on long enough to arouse me. Maybe it's due to age or spoiled by the damage done by internet porn. I don't think you have to stop watching a tv series or movie you like just keep you hands off your junk.

In my mind, the question is: Does it triggers you or not? If not you are ok. If you look at the scenes in a lustful way (only you know it) then its a Porn substitute.
I know that when I watched CSI:Miami, I was digging Kaleigh big time. I was sad if she wasn't involved in one episode. I wasn't getting an E, but I would get stimulated.
Same watching Breaking Bad. I would really concentrate on the two sisters (Walt's wife and her sister Marie). Legs, shoes, lips....
So one of my fights was to stop objectifying ladies....

  8. Ikindaknew, I just finished re watching Breaking Bad last week. The one lady that got me was Lydia. As far as looking out ladies. My mother told me that when I was a young boy, probably less then 5 yo I liked to watch a woman on TV called Dagmar, she was a buxom blonde. I really don't remember this.
As for things on TV, I don't feel bad looking at the ladies,as you must know Fox News is known for some gorgeous chicks. As long as I am not sitting around Jerking Off like a monkey in heat I don't feel it is a problem, at least for me. Any one car to comment?

Regarding my path for recovery, i clearly avoid watching series with intended sex content such as Banshee. According to me, these are in the show to attract a lot viewers to hit big TV scores on the network.
Today, it doesn't trigger you and it's ok. But what if tomorrow a succession of difficult events in a day or a week makes you feel unable to be strong, will this scenes trigger you ? I would say 'Yes'. This is why i prefer put away these 'on the edge' kind of TV shows. My sobriety is my priority number one, not this TV shit.

I don't watch it. I have dropped shows because of the content. Here's why: you wouldn't want an alcoholic to work at a bar. If your only goal is not to PMO fine your choice. But, over time I found that these little "sips" of porn left me more vulnerable. Additionally, if you are in a relationship and your SO (significant other) knows you watch the show, you might be showing them that you are not really serious about staying clean.

And honestly, if you are desensitized to the point of "it's just nudity", why even talk about Porn Subs.
