I have read "Pornography Addiction " and "I Want To Quit" both give insights to the reasons for and ways to fight porn addiction.

  2. The Willpower Instinct by Kelly McGonigle (probably incorrect spelling of surname, but you'll find it) is good. Not specifically about addiction but lots of useful stuff.

Cupid's poisoned arrow By Marnia Robinson. She is married with Garry Wilson (the famous TED Talk the great porn experiment! I'm reading it right now. It explains a lot of things about why we are not satisfied by regular sex and need more, to repeat the circle. A few good reasons why a lot of couples don't last.
It explained why I wasn't satisfied with real sex and that I tapped into porn as a solution....that made the situation worse!

  4. I came across this book called "When a boy becomes a man by Edward Bok". It's available on google books.
This book was published in 1912 as a guide to school boys reaching puberty on the possible health dangers of masturbation. I have been suffering from those "dangers" for past 4.5 years now, nearly a century later. The 20th century was supposedly notorious for anti-masturbation propaganda but this book apart from referring to fap as "sin" seems to have none of it (especially religious) and portrays how a person can get addicted to it and how it can damage his life. I wished someone would've given me this when i was 13. It angers me how the whole internet keeps encouraging you to fap when it destroyed my health and life singlehandedly. Perhaps in our quest for freedom of sexual expression/sexuality we have shot down anything that may seem to threaten that, including the possible bad health effects of masturbation.

The way of the peaceful warrior by Dan Millman is a good read about coming of age while finding dependency on things that don't bring joy.

Wack: Addicted to Internet Porn-Noah Church and Your Brain on Porn-Gary Wilson

  11. Awaken the giant within - tony Robbins
The power of habit - Charles duhigg

  12. Here's just a few:
The Dark Net by Jamie Bartlett - mostly this is about cyber-crime and bitcoins and the like, but there is a chapter on people snared by internet porn and lured into more and more depraved territory until they are flagged and the cops come and arrest them. The scary part, and the reason it's on the reading list, is that the people arrested [for viewing child porn, basically] started of looking at pin-ups but needed to go a bit further each time to get the 'rush'. They also carried on like this, totally separate from their normal real lives. One man knew he had done wrong, but still couldn't understand how - his real personality would never condone such things, but his online self had 'gone there'.

Man Disconnected by Philip Zambardo/Nikita Coloumbe - Famous in his own right for his psychological experiments, Zambardo co-authors this book with Nikita Coloumbe about how the digital age is affecting young men. There is a great deal about the alienating effects of being online for too long and how it educates impressionable minds, but it's views on internet porn and how it deforms an understanding of social and sexual graces puts this book on the list.

Letters from a Stoic by Seneca - Written 2000 years ago by a Roman statesman and tutor with a keen eye on society, it could have been written last week. It shows how little has changed. Whilst not about PMO, Seneca - as a stoic - is keen to remind the reader that virtue ought to be cultivated, and peace of mind attained through constant practice. In terms of taking control of your own mind, this book is a must have.

The Portable Nietzsche - Ed. Walter Kaufmann - Kaufmann has put together a sort of best of/compilation of the awkward philosopher's best work. Nietzsche believed that going through struggles made you a better person, and felt that those who tried to better themselves were the cream of the human race. Something to bear in mind as we struggle to improve ourselves by quitting PMO.
