Why do we do this?

I just responded to a clown who said that NoFap is "bullshit" in a comment on a NoFap friend's YouTube page. I was so pleased with my answer that I decided to post it here:

Some of us learn to love living without PMO.
Without PMO, some of us learn to love living.
Living without PMO, some of us learn to love.

I like the response you gave to that person. I used to believe that there was nothing wrong with what I was doing. It felt great getting off, looking for novel pictures/videos, and benefiting from the rush thereafter.

This recently changed, however. I am getting older and realized that I was socially and emotionally stunted as a result of this addiction. Basically ten plus years of my life was spent in, what I call, the spiral. I also had intense anxiety symptoms and noticed the lecherous way I looking at women when I was looking at porn all day. I am almost into my 13th day clean and feel much, much better. Life is more peaceful and slower as a result of the choice I made. In essence, life is indeed better when I am not PMOing. I don't want to go back to those darker days.

Don't get too upset from people who reject nofap. Those who say nofap is bullshit are people who are too afraid acknowledge the fact that they have a problem.

Oh, I don't! However, I thought it was good to defend something that has been so valuable to me and others.

You did good, but you are like a prophet trying to rally the world behind you. Every person that realizes that he/she felt into a PMO-MO trap will be saved, but billions won't.

I consider lucky to have been saved (not taking all for granted tho). Good press like the Times article is great, but psychologists and doctors would have to enter the dance too. Then, Sex ED teachers/curriculums should cover the risks.

although I remember a school nurse warned the guys in class that the ones with VCRs at home (lol it was new then) and that have been watching "pornographic vids" had to be really careful, because it was full of crap.

It was basically like ; Guys don't imagine that real sex with a girlfriend should look or be acted like depicted in these things...there is no love, etc...

She was a little bit of a visionary, but also an early warning for me....so I didn't request porny stuff or acted porny with my wife....but I still consumed the stuff for 25 years...
