This is like a book club for cool kids (led by the coolest kid of them all...).
    • What books are you reading?
    • What books have you read recently?
    • What books would you like to read?
Discussion about the stuff you've been reading is encouraged! I'll start:
I've been reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and the biography of Uthman Ibn Affan (RA), one of the first Muslim caliphs. Both books are extremely interesting, and highlight just how much we have in common with those that lived many years ago (even if our environments are different).
I think my next book will probably be Thus Spoke Zarathustra, or The Republic by Plato. I'm also planning to read Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

    I liked your start up.

Right now I am studying "Design of Steel Structures".
    I have read "Structural Engineering"
Next book I may prefer is "highway engineering".

  3. I'm a pretty typical girly girl when it comes to books. I like me some romance :D

Sarah Dessen is one of my favorite authors, so I've been reading a lot of her stuff lately. I also finally finished the Hunger games series, and Mockingjay was probably the best book I've ever read for a variety of reasons.

I've listened to a few audio books lately, since I drive a lot for work. I listened to a few of the Dexter books, and I'm excited to read more of those. I loved the show, and that author is really great. He has a very unique style and voice I've never really seen before.

Also, I wrote a book myself :p it's called Keep No Record, and it's a suspenseful sort of romance between a criminal psychologist and a muderer. I'm sort of working on a sequel to that story, focusing more on the male lead. That's been a fun challenge, writing in the male voice. My first book is for sale on amazon if anyone's interested in it.

  5. Some iBooks I'm reading in my phone are 'Your brain on porn' by Gary Wilson (loving it so far) I've always been interested in the science behind this addiction. I'm also reading 'Every Man's Battle' by Stephen Arterburn. The book is for Husbands struggling with porn but it's still beneficial for single guys like myself. I also love how the book gets biblical in many pages. 'I am Malala' is another book I'm reading but tbh I just got into it because a female friend of mine that I like recommended it but I'm really enjoying it lol

Here are the Pending books to read piling up..

  7. Nah :/ I never saw the movie but I heard It was really good. I bought this book for like two dollars b/c of a indigo coupon I had  but I just found it its on Netflix too.. I can't decide which to do first.. Movie or book? I know people always say the book is better but the movie seems really interesting.

  8. I actually think it's better to see the movies first before books, because if you read the book first, you'll be disappointed with the stuff the movie leaves out. But if you watch the movies first, then the books will just be even better! Like deleted scenes! That's what I did with Hunger games.

Anyway, important note about the movie though is that it's definitely got some triggers. There's a few sex scenes, full frontal male nudity... can't remember about female nudity but I think there's some of that too. So view at your own discretion!

I like this idea, but I wonder if we could take it a step further and make it more like a real book club. I am always looking for an activity to replace time spent on porn. Reading is always a good alternative. Maybe we could pick a book as a group every week or so, read it, and then report back what we took from it in the thread. Not quite the same as meeting in person for a discussion of the book, but I think we could exchange some ideas on here.

We could pick books related to porn addiction, etc., but I think it might be better to go off-topic completely. Make the club a real alternative. What do you all think?

I am in. Plan the schedule !

  12. I'm currently reading A Dark Matter by Peter Straub. I picked up reading again recently to try and develop a positive habit other than staring at television. I found a decent list of top horror novels of the 21st century, and this was on the list. I'm a huge Stephen King fan, and I'm planning on reading his son's works, author Joe Hill. I'm also interested in branching out to other genres. I recently read Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand and The Alienist by Caleb Carr.

  13. I'm reading some redpill literature to become a better man in general. I take responsibility for my life and the things that happened to me. So right now I'm reading The Book Of Pook. It's a free ebook.
