How to cope?

    Hi friends,
    I am two years into the process of quitting, and I am progressing nicely. I started this thread to ask others how they manage to combat some symptoms associated with withdrawal, and to compare what I am experiencing. I know that if I have the opportunity to talk with others experiencing the same way I will feel better. Perhaps what I share will help you.

    Currently I am experiencing:
    A lack of concentration, scattered thoughts (Common, yes.)
    Disassociation (Not very frightening, once I understood why it occurs.)
    Anxiety that manifests itself in different forms, ^^ one example, as well as hypochondria, unusual fears, increased vigilance and overall nervousness to do things I formerly did. Overall I am different from the person I formerly was and I am patiently waiting to return to my "normal."

    What have you experienced, and what are you doing to cope?

    I do a few things for my self to make it easier.

    I like to:
    Use positive self-talk
    Read
    Take adult time-outs
    Go on outings with friends, socialize
    Do healthy things for my self(Clean my room, exercise, eat regular balanced meals, try new foods.)
    I also try to push myself out of my comfort-zone. Ex: I went on a date this past week with a girl I had only recently met at the store. It was a nerve-wracking experience but I did it. It wasn't the best, but that will not stop me from trying again. I should add that I am some-what terrified of women outside of my family, lol.

    Are you completely free for 2 years, or do you still relapse? Sounds to me like you are mostly in the clear.

    I am developing new hobbies to improve myself. But it kind of doesn't work because I spend more time with my new hobby and I am not doing what I should do -- study.
