I Need to Stop Edging (Any Advice?)

    From my personal experience, edging is pretty much guaranteed to lead to relapse. Just now I'd abstained for almost a month until I started edging over the weekend. I would bend the rules by looking at risque material online that wasn't quite dirty enough to be considered P. On Monday night I M'd but I stopped before I could orgasm. Monday was the last day of class for me so I slept in Tuesday. When I woke up I began edging (without P) and by this point I had already made up an excuse in my head to relapse. After I relapsed, I thought it was okay to PMO before work, so I did. I later PMO'd that night and twice today.

    My first problem is that I casually edge thinking that as long as I don't cum I'll be okay. My second problem occurs after a relapse. After I've broken my streak, my mind tells me that I may as well just do it again. I fall into the trap of continually fapping post relapse. The vicious cycle ends now: I need to stop fapping and more importantly stop edging.

    P.S. Are there any tips that you guys have to share? What have you done to stop edging?

    1) Stay away from P and P-Subs. They are both bad news. If you will treat it like porn, it's porn. Bending the rules is not helpful here.

    2) Edging is still masturbation. Follow the core rules: Your bed is for sleeping only. Later on, it is for sleeping, or sleeping with someone else only. Wear underwear (and sunscreen. If I could offer you one tip for the future, sunscreen would be... it.) You are not allowed near your penis ("undercarriage") unless you are urinating or showering - and then - ONLY long enough to wash yourself.

    3) Do not let the past dictate the future. You had a relapse. Okay. Why? What can you try that'll be different? Keep trying new combinations until you find what works for you.

    First of all edging is massively tempting when urges hit - no question - its a big challenge and it's worth acknowledging that right off that bat.

    The key for me, at any rate, is really to ensure you do NOT put yourself in situations - in bed with a laptop, in a locked bathroom with a phone etc.. - where you're asking for trouble. But of course we still have our imaginations so to break it down to basics even more, just make sure your hand is never anywhere near your penis unless youre going to the bathroom.

    If you shut off those obvious temptations and you're still wanting to edge, then my advice is GET OUT OF THE HOUSE AND GET BUSY - to borrow the Nike slogan - JUST DO IT. Don't wait, don't kid yourself it'll be okay, don't waste another second.

    And finally, I think the thing to remember, to aim for if you like, is that the urges will weaken after a few days - in my case about 4 or 5 days into a streak - so just take it a minute, an hour and a day at a time, knowing that it will get easier, the storm will let up.

    Speaking from my experience any material you use will cause you to relapse and want to edge. I actually think it's better to have a different focus right now. You say you still look at material online. Try eliminating all material online for good. Have you tried Ming without P? I thought this may be counter-intuitive but it actually helped me out quite a bit. I don't edge anymore. I've cut my MOing from every other day to once a week. After a month of no P or any kind of material I am confident I will not look at any material ever again. Even pics online that were triggers before don't affect me. I couldn't say that before. I MO'ed without P for a month. Now I feel very confident about reaching 3 weeks without PMO because I've eliminated all material.

    Cut off the sources of your habit and the rest will follow.

    As someone quite capable of spending most of an entire day bewitched by p-subs (while supposed to be working from home), I can certainly relate to the slippery slopes of rule bending! However, whereas I consider engaging p-subs true grey-area brinkmanship, I do not edge because edging – with or without P or O -- falls under M to me, and as such already constitutes a relapse. Thus, without wanting to be the harbinger of a frustrated groin, to resolve your apparent conundrum, I nonetheless recommend reclassifying edging as M and M as a relapse. Best of success!

    Be in a place where you can't edge at all. in a room full of people u won't edge :)
