Has anyone tried throwing out their laptop?

I didn't throw it out but I gave my computer to a friend for a few months. It worked pretty well but definitely wasn't a full-proof fix.

In the Christian lingo, this is called "radical amputation" and it comes from the verse where Jesus says to "...if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off."

Since the problem isn't with stuff, but with our hearts and minds, we have to realize that cutting things out of our lives will only solve certain temptations and won't work for everybody. I could always find another way to get what I wanted when the temptations truly set in. That's why I started focusing more on developing my willpower (snap bands, cold showers, prayer, fasting, etc.). A comprehensive approach is best.

But now i have a phone so thats a whole new issue. -_-
No more laptop tho.
But now i use my phone for porn

 

Why go to such extreme lengths?

At the very least, lock that motherf***er down with some strong filters and accountability software that you don't control or have the passwords for. If you continue to find ways to look at porn, then you can think about more drastic measures.

Blockers dont work

 

Trust me ... this method is absolutely bulletproof. And I say that as someone who has found loopholes with almost every filter. The method works so well that I felt compelled to create a video to show other addicts how to do it. You can't get around it unless you're the one with the restrictions passcode on your phone. But if you have an accountability partner set the code, and then if you follow the instructions in my video, you won't be able to view porn (at least on your phone).

 

Lol just thinking of never being able to watch porn again. Like being restricted like that i feel anxious and angry... :/

When urges come, I'm likely to watch p in private window. 4 days ago, I relapsed. But right after that, I blocked Google and Safari from accessing incognito mode. Up to now, it works well for me.

 

I wouldn't recommend just throwing out a laptop without either destroying or reusing the hard drive. If you had some financial information on it and someone found the drive, the ghost files can be recovered. Other than that, definitely use a good porn blocker the way SuperFan recommended.

 

Switch to a dumb phone then.

 

That's what I did. I was on an old-school flip phone from September 2016 until a week ago. I only went back to my iPhone because I finally learned how to block porn completely.

@Kristen I hear you ... the thought of no PMO isn't fun. But in my experience, if I give myself an avenue of access, I'll inevitably take it at some point. The question isn't if, but when. I guess I just got serious enough about giving myself a fair shot at rebooting that I decided I wasn't going to play games anymore.

 

install k9 on laptop. set up a new email with a complex password that you will forget striaght away. use this email admin for k9. k9 is pretty good but it isnt perfect, so be sure to add websites that you might frequent as banned sites. And get a flip phone to use a phone. you dont need anything more than a flip phone, people survived before smart phones came around. Having a smart phone next to you all the time, is like a drug addict having a bunch of drugs sitting there on the nightstand.
