We're fallen human beings, so falling shouldn't suprise us. Without God's grace we can do nothing but fall, so everyday we don't that's when we should be surprised and give gratitude to God.
Also keep in mind God is also not surprised by our falls nor does He stop loving us when we fall. He came here to help us fall less and less until we reach the homes he's prepared for us.
