    Hey everyone,
I'm a 27 y/o guy who's been struggling with PMO off and on since I was 11. I had a real long shpiel going, telling my whole and complete story, but I'm starting to feel it might be better to save those deets for another post. As a Christian, I'm approaching this from a spiritual point of view. While the bible never specifically says masturbation is a sin, the Church holds it as a very taboo subject. Being naturally inquisitive, I always wondered why. The short answer I would always get was "Nah-ah-ah-ah! Don't ask why! Never ask questions! Just do as your told!" That obviously wasn't good enough for me, so I continued on, engaging in PMO about once a week up until a couple of weeks ago. I decided that if I couldn't get any legit answers from my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, I would study the psychological impact of pornography on the human brain, as well as the physical implications of frequent masturbation. Spiritual convictions or not, I've come to the conclusion that the downsides simply aren't worth the pleasure of PMO. But as an addict, I have a difficult time stopping. I can make it about 7 days between urges no problem, but on that 7th day I don't think twice about sitting down at my pc and rubbing one off. During my research I found a link to this group's sub-reddit. I hum-hawed between registering here or there, but decided to come here first, seeing as how porn is so easily accessible on reddit. (I'll probably eventually go there as well, for added support.)
Long story short: As a man who holds spiritual-masculine values very, very seriously, I'm sick and tired of my obvious lack of self-control and self-discipline in this area of my life. I'm tired of the physical tolls I'm paying due to frequent masturbation, and I'm tired of how it affects my outlook on life in general, not to mention my ability to socialize with members of the opposite sex. When I registered yesterday, I was 7 days PMO free. Today I'm back at 0, which is what compelled me to come and post for the first time. I look forward to getting involved here, hearing other people's stories, and sharing my own.

Hey man, welcome, I can relate too. You're right the Bible doesn't address masturbation directly. But it does address a lust. Here are some verses that'll help you on your journey:

"But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." (Matthew 5:28)

"Flee also youthful lusts, but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart." (2 Timothy 2:22)

"I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I lust upon a woman?" (Job 31:1)

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things." (Philippians 4:8)

And the last one I'll give you:

"Confess your sins one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man accomplish much." (James 5:16) So confessing your shames will help liberate you!

You got this man, we're rooting for you. I had social anxiety before I started noFap and now I have less trouble talking to girls

Hey Tenthyoung, I am familiar with all those verses, but it's good to be reminded of them. Thank you. My problem is that I've found as I delve deeper and deeper into my addiction, the words of wisdom in those passages becomes more and more glazed over. As I continue to objectify the women I view so lustfully, I forget that they are human beings with a sacred soul. And that they are somebody's daughter, somebody's sister. That's a perverted viewpoint I hope to conquer.
Thanks JPT1976, I'm glad to have found a source of support in finally doing something about this. And likewise, I'm here for you too!
