A couple of newbie questions on PIED

For those of you who haven't read my journal, the reason why I'm here is that in my mid/late 40s I began having ED problems on and off. First I put it down to age and physical shape (not great), but as it got worse I started looking into it more and eventually came across the concept of PIED, which is why I'm here attempting a reboot.

I have a few sildenafil pills which I got when my problem was starting to get in the way of things; this was before I found out about PIED. My reboot is no-MP only, meaning I hope to have at least occasional sex with my wife, once my junk starts to hopefully work again. Question: is there anything I need to know (positive or negative) about using these pills during a reboot? I realise a pill won't give me a boner when I'm flatlining, but I'm assuming it would still do its intended job of giving me a harder and more lasting one if/when I do manage otherwise to get aroused?

Incidentally, I don't know for sure, of course, that my ED is PIED, that was just my own layman's diagnosis based on what I had read, which seemed to fit my situation to a tee. I very much hope so, because that would mean that this reboot would leave me free of ED as well as many other problems, but it could be that I come out the other end and discover what I thought was PIED turned out to be just POED (plain ol' ED!). Question: short of going to see a doctor, is there any way to know that at this stage, or do I just have to wait and see if things get back to normal in that department?

And finally, I'm at the moment 10-12 days into my reboot, so far flatlining completely, and have little interest and even less ability to get aroused by normal, healthy triggers. That said, the last few nights I wake up in the middle of the night with a strong boner, so at least I know things work at least in terms of plumbing and other infrastructure. However, no morning boners at all, always wake up with a flaccid one. Does that (ie. night yes, morning no) tell me anything useful, in other words is there a meaningful difference between the two, or is it just an irrelevant timing detail?

  2. Was you waking up in the night with a strong boner when you were PMOing?

Good question. I'd say sometimes, but not every night, and it would be a mix of night and morning. And probably decreasingly less so in recent years.

Of course, the current situation is so new to me that it's probably too early to draw any conclusions from it yet.

This wasn't something I've experienced in any significant way. However, I will say in years of experience reading accounts on NoFap, this often does improve or even resolve over time. The most common advice those that used to have more issues tend to give is: Keep Going! The reboot of the brain takes a certain amount of time. I'm not sure 90 is a magic number, but it's certainly a /good/ number. Secondhand again, some definitely report performance improvements increased in the range 90 to 365. Not sure what the factors are. Some say testosterone is an issue surfacing in that age range. Others also swear by a total life program like fitness. And, I do think some of it is emotional connection, so improving affection outside of S would be advisable.

I'm not sure there's any way to discover if your ED is PI or not, other than what you're doing now. Most doctors don't even make the P link to ED, especially in older fellows. I would say the timing of your erections isn't as important as the fact that you are having them and they are solid. That shows there is still life in little Rob. No one can predict whether you will need to continue to take the ED pills, but I think other evidence on here shows at least that there's hope a reboot might bring about a cure for your ED. ED pills work on a physiological basis to increase blood flow, so if you get your motor running (desire & stimulation), they should produce an erection. In my case, I'm sure I have PIED and DE. I could get a boner with pills, but it didn't last long enough for either my wife or me to reach O.

Usually, the easy way to get a clue on the question PIED or just ED is to ask yourself: can you get an erection with real people? And can you get an erection with porn?
If your answers are No and Yes, than is probably PIED.

  7. Is it really possible to go 365 days no pmo ? Without sex also ? Is it safe

@Kdot Well, I am married. And, right now, thank goodness, my relationship is intact, including opportunities for intimacy with my wife.

However, yes. It's completely "possible" to go without sex for that long. Most men experience nocturnal emissions on occasion.. (wet dreams) everyone has their own clock. Mine might have been something like 180 days. Some people, it's more like 30 days or less. I think it depends on how much you fantasize, personally.

This is all VERY DIFFICULT. I never was good at it. I had good stretches, but many others where the fight wasn't in my blood and I caved. Usually like once a month. What helps a lot is to plan on getting married. In my religion, sex is supposed to wait until after marriage. And, the ladies are always very happy if their relationship is based on this idea of each of them being dedicated to one another in this chaste way.

Only thing I can say in the end is: do your best. And, I believe you are :)

  9. Hello. So I had ED and thought it was my health and weight at first. I went to the doctor and he told me to lose the extra pounds. I did but was still having problems. He gave me the pill for impotence and that didn't help. I mean I was hard until I made penetration then limp in seconds. I knew it was something else. I discovered Nofap and I am happy to say I can be intimate with my SO now. So yeah try different things and you will see what works.

In just three weeks, I have had success with overcoming what was becoming a very troubling problem with PIED and anorgasmia. Thanks to NoFap.

  11. I believe I can do it and I will just keep making daily visits and stay improving my goals each day

  12. 3 weeks? You lucky dog. If I had stuck with it for 3 weeks I may have achieved it sooner but I had to finally go for a long streak to get it back.

I'm not saying I'm cured, but things are definitely working better than they have for a year. I was prepared for a long haul, so I've been pleasantly surprised. Last night I felt like I could have gone without ED drugs without any problem. Not ready to try giving them up yet until a few more successes.
