Genuinely curious: for those of you struggling with PMO, have you had to talk to your children about porn, in general? If so, how did that conversation go? Or have you even caught one of them in the act?

I ask because, well, it's an interesting topic, and I wonder if having these discussions with family helped you in your own NoFap journey. Especially with children, since exposure at such a young age can have long-term consequences; did steeling your child against this particular danger aid in your own self-protection?

Also, talking about porn or anything sexual is a no-no in my family. Sex was related to sin and shame and taboo, or the realm of adults who kept their silence on the subject. We were the type of kids who were immediately told to look away when a kissing scene came on a TV show or movie. This stupid avoidance of the topic contributed to my inward turmoil and secretive behavior.

Again, if I made a mistake posting here, I'm happy to move this to a different area. Thank you!

  2. I know my parents meant well and they thought they were protecting me but like you said kids will find out on their own but the worst way possible. Kids need to know that their privates are not evil, dangerous, shameful but the complete opposite they are great and miracoulous they just require care and respect and to be celebrated in a healthy way. But as a kid you just don't understand and you are so curious. When you get the wrong message you're going to most likely take the wrong path. Hope parents wake up before it's too late. The conversation doesn't have to be graphic and all at once. Parents should make kids feel comfortable asking questions.
