Hey guys. I got a new idea for facebook addicts who want to limit facebook usage. The requirements are :

    1. You must be really determined to leave behind this time waster

    And/or

    2. You must be really lazy.

    P.s. - I satisfied both conditions

    So, here is the trick

(warning : may consume excess amount of your time but only for one day and you can easily be free for as much days as you wish)

Go to your profile and unfriend all the friends. Also, unlike all the pages and deactivate the profile. That way even when you reactivate the account, you will have to send over 100 friend requests which is obviously a tedious task. So, consider this idea.

I have been using this trick for one month now, and I no longer have any interest whatsoever in online games and watching stupid things. Also, all my friends are in my hometown so it isnt as bad as it may seem. Best of luck!!!

I was actualy considereing redoing my month after it, but I will do your method instead. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, have the most PERFECT day.

When I used facebook, I felt that everyone I chatted with was pretending to be a friend. So, even before deleting my friends I stopped chatting on facebook.

Now about the articles. Sure, the articles, pictures and memes were the only reason I used facebook in the past. But I found myself opening facebook on short intervals of time. The articles usually consisted of information that didnt appeal to me personally.

For example of an article - "Scientists found a way to create lightsabers." So, you see it is an interesting piece of information but it is of no practical use at present. Also, even if you read the article I m pretty sure you wouldnt be able to give an idea in helping the research personnel so why bother.

    About the music part

Well the fact that I stopped music might be related to the fact that I dont know good music. But, from my perspective I know that it causes a dopamine rush in my brain.

    How do I know that??
Simple, I applied the porn addiction logic to it.

    1. Increasing intensity gives a more good feeling - In my case it was increasing volume
    2. Everyday you seek new and more - I actually did that
    3. You indulge with stuff you know you wouldnt have liked if you were in your right brain - I went from
linkin park to disturbed so that explains it.

Also, as a student in a country where 15 lakh students are giving exams to get in engineering colleges its very important that I make good use of my time....

  4. 200% on what you say on Facebook. I deleted 600 pages in January, felt better than I ever had. I only use Face to share music and talk with my friends who are in France, but Skype is better for that. It's about learning to reuse social media exactly for what they are supposed to be. Facebook is great for organising and groups for work. It's not a place to be selfish. Plus the triggers are everywhere and jealousy is excited by it.

You are definitely probably right about music though. Thursday I didn't listened any, it was hard, very challenging, and yesterday after listening some again I was on the verge of orgasming at each song, like seriously. All the symptoms, feeling blood pulsing, rapid short breaths, feeling high, all this kind of stuff.

I love what you say about increasing volume = increasing the "hit" basically.

Except that I think I will never quit music, ever ever, for religious reasons first. Because music is very important in religion and stuff. And because morally, music in itself is NOT morally bad. It depends of what you listen to. I fucking love gangsta French rap, but the lyrics are basically decadent and often sexist. BUT I also fucking love Hildegard von Bingen music (one of the hugest Catholic saints). I love these music equally. It's all about balance. It's about you choosing if you want your dopamine levels to be at the minimum required or not. I think that rather quitting completely, quitting every other day say every two weeks (it's really tedious), would have more beneficial effects, such as this absolutely incredible feeling to be climaxing because of just, you know, sound.

I do not believe that all dopamine rushes are the same. It's like for losing weight; not all calories are equals. It's about choosing quality over quantity. Choose the quality of your high, and you will not need it more often, ya know?

    What do you guys think?

This is most definitely interesting. Your thoughts are insightful, creative and intelligent, thank you suyash_4376!!!
