    Hey y'all,

New to this platform and pretty stoked to see that a community like this exists. My faith has been a huge part of my effort to try and quit PMO, but I'm really excited to see that there are science-based efforts and a wide community of people coming together to tackle this. It's going to take a wide range of people coming together to beat addiction within ourselves and in society.

Any tips on how to make the best use of this resource? I'm not a huge technology guy, I still have a flip phone (lol) and i'm not a redditor so it may take a bit to get acclimated to all the forums and whatnot.

Also here's a question: I'm already like 3 days into my own personal challenge, but I just noticed that there are challenges on here-- most of them ask you to start from day 0, but I'm obviously NOT tryna relapse or reset my counter just for that. Any ideas? Of course, I can just fly solo until I relapse again, and then jump back on the bandwagon with a new challenge...

anyhow, thanks for existing you all! Looking forward to a new season of fighting PMO.

    Shalom

Welcome to the forum! Thank for sharing your story.

This forum is a great place for comradeship. There is no prescribed method to utilize the forum resources but I would say a great starting point would be to try and check in daily. The more you check in, the better your chances of prevailing. You will slowly but surely replace your negative use of the internet with positive use. Your mind will get conditioned to viewing the internet as a source of good vibes as opposed to a place to PMO. The key out here to breaking the addiction is to break the habit. To break the habit you have to take away the fuel that feeds the fire. Part of the fuel comes from our lifestyle of browsing the internet in vulnerable positions where complete privacy is guaranteed. Also, using the internet when touching one's privates is a big no-no. Fantasizing about P can also derail many a recovery. Oh well, I can go on!

Good luck in your journey! Hope to see more of you out here!

Thanks man! really helpful advice. I think I will try to check in daily, the past couple days it has been a helpful engagement to basically "distract myself from my distractions," if you know what I mean. good luck with everything!

As Jerry says, it is a great idea to check daily. I try to check twice daily, and mainly check the new posts to encourage new users and the Christian group to be encouraged in terms of faith. Also checking the panic button helps a lot.

I also have found it helpful to check the forum at the least urge I have (I work in a computer all day so it is easy for me)

Welcome urban_pilgrim, you are not alone. Let's do this!

Research the benefits of doing nofap on the internet, youtube because theres actually guys and girls out there you do manage to quit porn and till you what motivated them to stop their addiction and will make you think that enough is enough and will convince you to do so. search up benefits of quitting porn the reason why i want to quit porn is because of what i heard about the semen retention for example, I want the an increase volume in sperm in my balls.. find a reason to quit porn and stick to it you might not make it long enough but also seek help in the forums too and make conversations.
