I’ve been looking a lot into TCM(traditional Chinese medicine) for this lately. 91 days no porn, 19 days of semen retention(only 1 orgasm in 91 days without porn).

Over probably the last 3 years and a half I’ve been fending off adrenal fatigue /burnout . I did slowly get better, but then back in Nov of last year I engaged in way too much PMO for about 4 months (daily porn and edging, almost daily orgasm) this is where I decided to take nofap serious. I have noticed a decrease in anxiety since. The thing each time I add weight lifting to the mix, after about 2 weeks my nerves just refuse. I can do short walks, short stationary bike and yoga..but weightlifting seems to be a no go. And when I mean weightlifting, I mean SMALL weights and low reps, less than 10 mins of workout. I don’t find the weight heavy, just my nerves act up. Anyone experience this and any success in overcoming it?

Also I work 4pm to 12am shifts, it seems as of recently when I finish at 12 I have insanely hard time falling asleep. I’ve fended off insomnia from the beginning, but it seems to have showed up again. On my weekends , I’ll go to bed early and sleep well. When I have trouble, my mind is not racing or anything, it just feels like cortisol is shot throughout my body after 11 and I’m wired. The inside of my body feels like there’s a tiny earthquake going on. I’m in the process of requesting a change at work to finish earlier.

I have been meditating daily, quite a bit more than when I first started my journey to cultivate my mental health. The physical health and sleep is something I’m having trouble hacking. I eat well, no processed food and only drink water and chamomile tea.

A few brothers proposed wim hof, I’m still holding on trying it due fear of it aggravating my already sensitive nerves.

    Thank you in advance brothers

Being free from the grip and mental obsession and compulsion of lust has helped my nervous system and adrenal glands more than anything else. I had no idea how much excessive pressure and stress i was causing my nerves until I renounced the whole acting out on lustful thoughts and intrigue and fantasies, etc. I struggled with severe tourette syndrome and cervical dystonia for several years of my life. But when i stopped burning up my my nerve force mentally and physically with sex and lust then my nervous system calmed down like nothing else has ever calmed it. Now I just continually fine tune it and improve it even more via right diet, non-stressful lifestyle in all areas and Self-inquiry. Most of us compromise so much in our daily life doing things that arent in alignment with our inner being and that causes stress. Talking nonsense with people or so called friends was a big one that I had to give up. Like everything else, I didnt realize how good it was for me to stop doing it until I stopped doing it.
I had the same problem as you did with working out. I always worked out my whole life and was ripped and so I kept doing it even though it wasnt good for my nerves at all. I was very attached to the physical body and self-image. Finally I switched to calisthenics which is much more healthy and conducive for my whole body and nerve sensitivity. I only strength train twice a week now (full body- 1 set each exercise) and I still am ripped for the most part...:) But that is another thing we have to realize and grow into-- seeing that relaxation and peace is 100 times more important than if my exterior is well defined or collectively attracted or not. That's all illusion that so many people are caught up with these days.

Thank you for your insight brother, only recently do I realize the impact of fantasy. I’ve put a stop to it. When you say you switched from weightlifting to calisthenics, was there a period where you just stopped exercise? How often do you train in a week with calisthenics?

For me, like I said I’m talking extremely light weight, I had built up a tolerance over time as I was recovering slightly from adrenal fatigue and was lifting enough to gain benefits from it(before this whole thing I was quite strong) but once I fell down the road of excess PMO over that 4-5 month period it ripped the little progress away.

As I’ve been cultivating my mental health, I see exactly what you mean with regards to doing things that are going against our inner self. I’m trying to fix each pillar to support me and bring me forward.

How long did it take you on your nofap journey to see these positive changes, energy recovery and all? Where you could finally do things without hesitation, if you get what I mean.

Thank you for your insight once more brother!

Yes, if one relinquishes the compulsiveness and desire to fantasize as well as the need and desire to get attention from the opposite sex (on both the obvious and the subtle levels of the mind) then most of the other pitfalls and traps that lust creates and that causes restlessness and imbalance will also fall and collapse... This is heavyweight stuff though-- not for most humans. We are very addicted to sexual gratification both physically and mentally. This is the second strongest instinct next to elf-preservation. But the inner and outer freedom that one feels when they are free of this is second to none.

I stopped exercising for a week at the most. I always liked to do something even just some moderate aerobic exercises is good. Now I do strength training calisthenics on Monday and Friday. That's all I need for strength focused exercises. My body is happy with that and gets stronger than if I did more than that. On the other days, I walk, sometimes jog, stretch, do some yoga, and some aerobics in the moment when I feel to (if I am feeling sluggish or too hyper), swim, etc. Check out convict conditioning- they have 10 steps from beginners to advanced for all 6 body parts. Its a great program. Doing light for now is fine. Dont get obsessed with the physical body and image (that's another huge trap that fuels the whole sex and lust addiction). Just being healthy and balanced is enough. When inner serenity becomes tangible and normal then it is impossible to focus much on the physical body because it becomes more in the background of consciousness instead of the foreground like most people.

as far as how long it takes to see positive changes and recovery all really depend on the level of surrender and the giving up of these destructive tendencies and habits. Its about the quality not the quantity of time. For example, If one is whole heartedly done with this addiction then they can see better benefits in just 24 hours compared to someone who hasn't masturbated or physically released semen for a year and hasn't watched porn, but yet is still fantasizing still and and holding on to reservations and dormant desires that keep the nerves restless (Trust me, I know....). But that level of surrender isnt always totally volitional. There seems to be a natural evolutionary process that we have to endure. So we do the best we can and keep chipping away-- falling and getting up- falling and getting up.... All is good though... You cant miss...

Heavy weight and many other types of gym exercises should be done with help of trainer. Ask a doctor if the nerve problem persist, might be due to some nutrients deficiency or wrong posture of exercise. In most cases these two are main factors. Only following NoFap and doing gym is not sufficient, you need to take sufficient amount of nutrition.

Thank you once more for your insight, I’ll stick to low cardio (walk/slow bike)for now and when I feel that my body is ready I will look into calisthenics.

As for fantasy, I still have the pop up in my mind, but I never engage with it. I stop it as it shows up. Hopefully this is just a flatline and I will rebound soon.

Thank you for your insight brother. Honestly, I’ve got my blood work done(including B12 levels) Everything was healthy. The only thing that was low was my Total testosterone. Although my free testosterone was at a more than average level. This was back in Nov, hoping that total T has climbed since.

As for posture, I have a good amount of experience in it and I follow posture over ego lifting. Like I mentioned before, I was literally using light (5 lbs) weights. After 3 weeks of 1 rep increases my body was tired. No muscles aches and pains, just my body was getting tired and I felt on edge. I’m assuming this has to do with daily training..even if it’s just 2 exercises in a day+cardio/yoga my nervous system is worked on each day. I’m going to remove weight training for now and have light cardio. Hoping this will help, as well as one day of nothing at all.

I’ve cured it. I’ve done 10 months nofap, 6 months, nofap, and 14 months nofap. It’s a long process and you can’t be orgasming this early. Yoga helps, forcing yourself to workout (through the fatigue but not pushing injuries) simplify your life. Start approaching women. 10,000 steps a day. Ashwaghanda is great. It’s a really long process with ups and downs. At my first 90 days no pmo I was still in a VERY dark place and it would take several years still to recover. NO PORN. NO MASTURBATION. NO ORGASM (unless your body can handle it and it’s with a woman) you’re fighting a losing battle if you are still releasing.

Thank you brother, this is really what I was looking for. First off, really glad you could cure it.

I released on day 72 with no porn, I was going through a lot of insomnia and gave in to fantasy and edging. Not proud of it, but I didn’t binge and since then I’ve been studying nofap articles. I’ve also stopped fantasy completely, the millisecond it pops up, I block it.

Yeah if I push myself to much I start to notice the feeling of overwhelm show up again and Im I’d be tired all day.

How much Ashwaganda do you use/optimal amount? And if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? We’re you a heavy PMO user? Also, within those 10 months of nofap, did you see a big improvement then?

    Thank you for this brother

You mean it makes you horny? Try dynamic tension/isometrics. No soreness 24 hours after, like with weight, guaranteed :) But don't train the same muscles every day.

Do 20 minutes of trataka with eyes open all the time. Like candle gazing or any other object. It will take you deeper in the subconscious and make you sleepy. Right before sleep. If you get tired before, feel free.

No no, wired as in cortisol is shot through my body. Not horny. Like my nerves on red alert. I’m trying to a shift where I finish before 12 so I don’t have to face this issue.

Thank you brother, I will take a look into both. Always good to have a wide variety of things to help counter these withdrawals.

Sorry, you're right. I'm in my head, so I wasn't expressing myself the best, hah. So, the best way to describe it is if you drink a bunch of coffee or energy drinks in one go. How you feel after that, your nerves are on over drive. So there's a tingly feeling, your body can warm up during that time and potential chest tension and maybe even heart palpitations on certain moments (Not to the point of a panic attack). This keeps me wired and unable to sleep for a period. This happens to me at 12AM for some reason and when it does it becomes very difficult to fall asleep afterwards. I work from 4pm to 12 AM , I'm looking into bringing my shift back down, so that I can finish at 10 pm and avoid this situation from occurring. I hope that helped clear it up a bit!
