    I need to hear from you guys what the benefits are from staying PMO-free. I keep relapsing and part of the reason is because my brain tells me it's not that big of a deal. I really would like to hear what benefits you have noticed from staying PMO-free, those you have heard about, or those you hope to achieve. I'm aware that it can reverse PIED and that it can reduce anxiety, but curious about other benefits. Thanks!

    As of right now, all I can say is I'm happier and I really want to establish more connections with girls on a deeper level I've had experience here and there but I now realize that I want a relationship. Also be warned that your brain does try to trick you into thinking that you should go back to your old habits but with time its gets easier to ignore.

    @LookinUp

    It's a common thing to hear that NoFap grants participants some kind of 'superpower' after a period of time.

    There is absolutely no doubt that since overcoming PMO a year ago, and continuing the journey since then over the past year, I have become a much healthier, peaceful, well rounded individual, with the capacity to maintain a loving and satisfying relationship, and all the benefits of not being continually preoccupied with new and novel ways to orgasm.

    I don't want to dissuade you - it's great that you've started your journey - but it's going to be hard to make progress if you're waiting for benefits. Being able to resist temptation and control yourself has to be reward enough. If you start weighing the rewards against the benefit of getting that quick hit, in the moment of temptation, the dopamine will win every time. Which is what's happening in your case.

    Yes, as you begin to rewire your brain, resist your urges and take control of yourself, the benefits of a happier healthier lifestyle will begin to flow. But it's important to get out of the 'what's in it for me?' mindset. You're doing yourself a favour by quitting PMO - don't expect a reward.

    You're in the right place, and we're here to support you. I wish you the best!

    It really does ease up the longer you go.

    (From personal experience, dunno if it applies to everyone)
    Well, its pretty freeing. Partially because there's less time being sucked into the void...but also because you can think clearer. The things you like get easier to focus on and devote time to, and also feel more enjoyable. Plus it helps get rid of that..I don't know..machine like feeling of being with people. Like how ThatOneGuy wants intimacy. Its a nice feeling, wanting that..

    Or maybe you'll end up like me and it'll kind of be like waking up from The Matrix and you go on this quest of self-discovery. Or not.

    But I tell ya, pal..Its like..feeling really and truly alive. I don't know how to describe it. A constant feeling of elation (yeah, that's it!). A mix of feeling happy and confident. Its definitely a feeling worth working towards.

    Bonjour @LookinUp

    The benefits have been huge for me on different occasions (relapse recently). I felt on top of the world and ready to do all sorts of things. A huge energy boost! Life became worth living to me. I agree with @Hero One because self control is the greatest thing to be gained and @Open Parasol because you gain a interest into who you really are while learning on the way. Things always get better.

    Au revoir,
    Ace

    I'm trying to get free from this addiction myself, I'm trying to 40+ Days without PMO. But the goal is to quit forever.
