With Android you can set up Google Familylink, use a long random password for the "parent" account and put it on lockbox.pluckeye.net or give it to someone else so it's not immediately accessible.

You can just install the apps you really need, disable everything else, then require "parental permission" to install new apps.

 

Doesn't matter what phone to buy, what matters the most is willpower and self-control. All the other strategies are simple bandaids, some superficial solution, but that is just my humble opinion.

 

yes i would say buy an iphone you block p completely . if your looking for a cheaper option ,ie android you download family link . there is no way you can bypass it , unless you have the password and u cant reset ur phone also. i think family limk is the best blocker out there.

When I was a kid, my parents had parental controls, I STILL could find what I "wanted"... hell, I could install a blocker now if I wanted... but I can find a way around it. Hell, I went on vacation in China where P is literally illegal, and they literally police the web to block any site they can find. I STILL found a way... I could leave my phone and laptop downstairs when I go to bed. I could be sleep-deprived, and it's 3am... didn't stop me from getting out of my cozy bed and grabbing them...

I'm sorry. It's way easier said than done. It's all about shear will power! I really do believe you can install the most powerful blocker, and still find a way....

I think it's still useful, even if it is just a speed bump. It's like a recovering alcoholic pouring all their liquor down the drain, doesn't mean they can't make a run to the convenience store, but at least it's not immediately accessible.

 

iPhone is the way to go. The screentime setting solves all the problems. All you have to do is have someone you trust and know set up the passcode which they keep secret from you. You can set up browsing to only allow specific websites like Nofap. The App Store can be disabled. iTunes can be disabled so you can’t search music videos. My phone is completely safe, I literally can’t find anything on it
