    @SurvivorOfMrRager ,

There is indeed a purpose, which is to keep the audience interested. Look at Games of Thrones, its so evident. All the recent series are like that.
There is always a few gorgeous recurring female characters.
I used to watch CSI MIAMI with the wife. She had her crushes and I had mines...

    What about Cheerleaders?

  4. I think it all depends on how it's done.I like when they show the two characters about to do the deed and then it cuts away lol. Really, sex scenes serve no purpose than to get the viewer's attention or arouse the viewer.I feel really awkward when a sex scene happens around my friends or family.

  6. Yes to make shows more appealing so that you will watch them and see the commercials made by the companies who gave the channel money so they could advertise, hoping you will buy their product.

I think there is a big purpose. It is the work of the devil.
A few years ago, everything was censored, kissing was obscene. You can read the history. Slowly but surely, the tables were turned. The pornographic industry won and became a success. Even erotic movies were considered bad. Slowly it made its way to the cinemas, then into homes on cassettes, then on to magazines, then the internet and finally we have porn everywhere including our minds.

The purpose is to simply cause corruption on our planet. The big people involved into this kind of business believe it's all about the money. They are only being tricked by Satan.

Look at this picture below: A map of
    Pornography_laws.svg.png

    World map of pornography laws:
    Green: Pornography legal
Yellow: Pornography legal, but under some restrictions, or ambiguous status
    Red: Pornography illegal
    Grey: Data unavailable

This wasn't how it was a couple decades ago. It is all being pushed from the west. Watch how slowly within years this map of the earth will start to become green.

It won't become green because many countries have made porn illegal and I don't think it will change but you know what will, Technology. I live in Saudi Arabia. Every single pornographic website is blocked. But everyone watches porn using VPN. There is always a way to cheat the system. While statistics may show hope, don't be fooled because pornography has reached everywhere. No matter how much you try to protect your kids, some kid might bring it on his ipod one day and be like, "hey look at this". The purpose of it all is to make us all immoral. Nothing else. We must give it our best to try and keep this garbage out of the house. We must educate our kids before they are exposed to it. No matter if they still disobey, at least they were warned. We must try our absolute best because this is now an epidemic. If you are a believer of religion. The number one biggest problem everyone has is porn. It makes a man endlessly sin. It doesn't stop. Further more it leads to bigger sins. This is nothing but the work of the devil and things are about to get way more sexual, brace yourselves.

May peace be upon you all.

What role does it play during a reboot? I love watching TV and I even keep a spreadsheet for all the shows I watch. But, sometimes I find them as a trigger. I mean seriously it is porn just in a "professional" way. If we are trying to avoid porn isn't watching a TV show intentionally watching porn?

No the TV show's purpose is to tell a story. You can easily look away if something is triggering you.
Unless you really crave watching the show for its sex scenes, that shouldn't be a problem.
Only you know if the watching creates a "warm & fuzzy" in your brain.
Early in the reboot, you have to identify your triggers and attempts to live without them. Anythign arousing you that is not straight porn, is a "porn substitute"...it could be a car calendar, a lingerie catalogue, victoria's secrets webpage, etc....

Make a list of is triggering you, and identify if you still seek a warm & fuzzy from some material (sexting, objectification, etc), then, avoid.
You brain will eventually stop looking at these for dopamine release purpose...

  12. Depends from a movie really. Sometimes the sex scenes contribute to the story and development of characters. And of course many other times they are there just to do some fan service, to entertain people and keep their attention.

I agree with this. Some times nudity is used to make audience catch offgaurd..it has become predictable in all the horror movies. It also shows vulnerability.
I also agree with most of you guys that it is exploited a few fold more than it is used for the story/real purposes.

I think most of the time people add sex scenes to keep people entertained. Corporations feed off man's lust to see those things. I guess there are a few cases where t contributes to the plot in some way, but I feel like there are a lot of movies where scenes are just thrown in.

It sucks cuz I've had to miss out on so many tv shows and movies that I've heard are great. Oh well.

I think that these are valid concerns, and I have definitely found sex on television and film triggering, but I am also inclined to believe that it can serve a [potential] narrative and aesthetic purpose. For instance, Game of Thrones certainly has plenty of truly awful examples of gratuitous sex , but such scenes can also be leveraged to set up an important power dynamic on the show, especially the fraught and challenging place of women in this world. I may not like the nudity/sex (I often change the channel or avert my eyes), but I am also not jaded enough to dismiss all sex scene outright as advertising and audience manipulation. In some ways, it not unlike overt scenes of violence and abuse--some people might find such scenes triggering, but they can also powerful effects their viewing public in productive ways.

The thing is being aroused by ways other then husband or wife is artificial stimulation.. So any sex scene should be considered a public hazard but problem is we hav lost our modesty
