    Dear recovery friends,

Here it is a test, very simple, you can take to reveal if you have sexist attitudes even if you do not consciously recognize them. Today is the international day of the woman, so good day to check. Unfortunately we cannot have a longitudinal evaluation of how you were biased (probably much less) before engaging in the pornholism. However, you can reflect yourself to consider if part of the variance (explanation) of your score was due to pervasive toxic porn culture.

Do not forget to read this page summarizing porn's effects on sexism and women sexual objectification.

PS. There are other cool tests on the same web, all about assessing implicit biases.

Moderate association of male with science and female with liberal arts.

It's an interesting test, although I'm not sure that it means I am 'sexist' according to porn stereotypes. However, for better or worse, most of the men in my life have careers that are more 'science' or maths/engineering based, and more of the women follow liberal arts. And my 'scores' reflect that.

What about the gender career test?

  4. I don't see the point of this. It said I had a moderate automatic association with male/science and female/liberal arts. But there's two problems with this.

Firstly, the order of the test makes it so that when you are tested with male/science on one side and female/liberal arts on the other, it's your last test and you have already done several tests similar. Which means you're more comfortable with the process, and naturally your reaction times are going to be better, because you understand how it works and have seen the words over and over at this point. That's a very flawed system.

And secondly, there ARE more women in liberal arts fields and more men in scientific fields. Or at the very least, there have been for my years historically. So... I don't really care that I am slightly more inclined to think of liberal arts as a female thing and science as a male thing. It's generally often true.

So yeah... I think this test is very flawed and makes some unwise conclusions about the data it collects. The fact that you're faster on your very last test could very well be because you've basically had 5 practice runs before that, and your reaction times are obviously going to be higher.

  5. And same thing with the career one. Historically, women have been caretakers and men have had careers. I don't find it sexist in the slightest that people might naturally associate career-retard things with men and family-related things with women. (And I'm a woman, by the way.)
