Recovery from PMO addiction, or any addiction, is a war, literally. To win, you need to be prepared. It's important to understand the seriousness of addiction, especially PMO addiction. Here's a reminder to help when you feel tempted or your mind says, "Just this time won't hurt." PMO addiction, addiction generally is not a joke, its not something you do every now and then and spend a few hours in, it is the worst thing in the life of any addict, you need that momentum to break free from it, you cant escape it just by a 30 days, or even 90 days, it is a lifestyle, you wont wake up one day and find yourself not addicted anymore, it should be your priority in life, you need to fight, sacrifice a lot of things( you will not be able to use your phone at bed at night, you will not be able to watch some movies, not able to use social media freely as you want, not able to do a lot of stuff that triggers you),you need that to escape, there is no shortcut, recovery is defined as a miracle, IT IS LITERALY A MIRACLE, if you dont believe me google that, i am not here to scare you, as I myself am an addict, but just to remind you that in order to recover, you need a plan, you need to make sacrifices, dont take it easy, you only have one life, and remember ,recovery is possible, if you stick to it.
Was just thinking about this this morning. I think for so long now I've been telling myself it's a not a big deal. It is, its the same as being addicted to anything else. I can't just say it's fine and go about day as normal. Its the same as an alcoholic having to give up certain social settings. You articulated my thoughts.
No alcoholic ever recovered by accident, or woke up some day and stopped drinking, in fact the vast majority of alcoholists keep failing the rest of their lives, a small number stay sober for life, it needs courage and defining limits and changing things about yourslef, same thing about any other addiction
I’m in the early stages of understanding this myself. Still very much so a 弟子 when it comes to the explicit material free lifestyle. It feels like we lose a lot by starting down this path but I think it’s important to remember everything we will gain and are gaining day by day by being free of it. We are cleaning our souls. We are reintegrating with society because it is my firm belief that explicit material severs the individual from those around him. So being put back into society by maintaining distance from the filth of explicit material is one gain that outweighs all of what we must give up to break free.
