Ex VR Porn Addict here

Discussion in 'New to NoFap' started by Deleted Account, Jan 22, 2024.

  1. Hello everyone,

A long time PMO addict here.

Not sharing my story, it might be cliche to some, and might be boring too. But I'll tell you this, my addiction begun with soft porn, then hardcore and in recent years VR porn. This last one was really a new low in my life. Normal porn compared to VR is like comparing weed to crack and cockaine. Though to each their own, these stuff are all equally addictive and can damage lives and souls. So to hell with all of them.

But I'm going to put my life back together by a fierce fight with the enemy. As of writing this introduction, I have accumulated adequate knowledge but still learning from this amazing community.

Day 6 begins today in my 90 days challenge.

My goal is simple: No Porn, No Masturbation.

Godspeed all of you in the battle.
We are in this together. :emoji_v:

Welcome to the forum. I just joined yesterday myself.

I'm glad I never had the chance to try VR porn, it sounds dangerous. I don't even dare to imagine the (near) future of porn with VR and AI. I feel like it could be even much more destructive than the porn we have right now. Right now is a very good time to get rid of the addiction so we can avoid experiencing that.

  3. Thanks. Welcome to the forum as well!

Well, I'm happy for you that you've decided to join before you step into much deeper trouble which is the VR. It's definitely THE ultimate destructive behavior once you begin diving into it.

Actually I begun my quitting journey on January 1st, and replased after 12 days or so with VR. kept doing it for three days straight until I gathered myself again. This time I joined the community here and doing the 90 Days Challenge in a much more organized and disciplined way.

One thing for sure, I never ever wanna step into VR/AR again. It's a hell in front of your eyes.

Glad to see you start the road to recovery!

I will say from experience VR porn is 10x harder to shake than regular porn, and once you start going down that road it’s harder to crawl out from. Good thing you’re starting now, before it’s worse to stop later on.

Even if you relapse or it feels hopeless, just keep trudging on and trying your best. Push yourself but don’t beat yourself up, or give in to a severely negative mindset no matter what, it will only serve to defeat you as you inevitably make mistakes like we all have.

I was too harsh on myself early on and it cost me, because I just kept returning back to porn as “what was the point” despite making progress slowly. Everyone here has your back, as the number one goal just don’t give up!

  5. Thank you so much for your words. It means a lot.

It's I guess this year is the last chance to those who want to recover from VR. Because some very weird top-of-the-game AR and Look-Through stuff started to creep on in December on VR websites. My guess is that by the end of this year, 50% of the content will be AR which is even harder to quit than classic VR.

Today I'm celebrating one week of freedom!

No worries mate! We’ve all been down that road, well that and others are going down it as well! I know what it’s like to have addictions, and how overwhelming, compulsive, and frustrating they are.

For me I have the old PSVR, but my boyfriend recently gifted me the Meta Quest 2 which I’m excited about. I had a moment where I thought about it, but that’s where you have to cut it off and focus your attention on something else.

For some quitting say VR forever could be a wise choice, but personally I try not to do stuff like that (depending on what it is obviously) as that can lead to avoidance issues which don’t solve the root cause. I’m willing to play it, so long as my partner is home and I don’t sneak off or anything. Being vigilant is key, and mindfulness is honestly half the battle, so whatever you decide just know quitting porn in general is one of the best things you can currently do for yourself and your body! :)

  7. Well said, A tool is a tool. It depends on us on how we are going to utilize them and for what purpose. I have Meta Quest 3, plenty of fun and or professional stuff to explore using VR.

Keep it up and we'll stay in touch!
