Have you told anyone about your nofap streak? Who and why?

I think you are right. There is a stigma attached to almost ANYONE who tries to do things in a proper, moral fashion. Most people I know believe there can be no such thing as a sexual addiction. As such, the only people who know about my journey are the fellow NoFappers on this site........And God. Luckily, those two sources are all I will need to succeed! The actual success will be up to me.

 

To many people sexual abstinence practised by one of their friends is a confrontation with their own addictions.

 

Me and my dad got drunk and I told him I had gone the better part of a year without fapping. He said was astounded and said he was really proud of me and that was really admirable but he "jerks off all the fucking time" lol. I told my brother but he found it way too personal, refuses to try it, and does not think its legit.

Ha, I told a few of my mates last weekend and I expected ridicule but they were more in awe. I told them it had been 20 odd days and they said they were lucky if they could last 20 minutes!
It also opened up a conversational topic which I had never had with my mates which was awesome. It feels a bit weird to say but it felt like I realised we had 'grown up' by the end of the conversation as it was honest and open without any mocking. It ended up being quite motivational for me and gave me confidence.

 

Yes, told a close friend who was in awe and would try to cut down as a result. Don't be embarrassed. You will win some respect!

 

I told my friend who introduced me to nofap in the first place. He's never actually gone above 7 days so he was really impressed with my streak so far and didn't think I was taking it seriously.

 

I told few of my friends about the dangers of PMO and how stopping can benefit their lives in so many ways but all I got was strange reactions. I think there is a stigma attached to anyone who tries to do things in the right way. I have been watching p and m for 5 years now, no one has ever told me about the harmful effect. I didn't know I was addicted and how slowly it was ruining my life. I wish someone would have told me about nofab in my early days of PMO. Now, by telling close friends about this disease, I'm hoping I will wake them up a little bit.

He was cool about it, asks me about my streak ocassionally, and doesn’t make fun of me because of my PMO addiction

 

Yep! Three friends know. Two of them are addicted too. One isn’t. All supportive.

 

Two close friends of mine and a girl I've been talking to for a while. They're all female and incredibly supportive of me and help remind me why I'm doing this. None of them know that I'm doing so well on my current streak though as I usually faltered after a week. The surprise on their faces when I tell them it's been a little over 3 weeks will be wonderful to see. It was nerve wracking to admit to them but I felt so much freer and happy afterwards.
