i have been addicted to pornography and masturbation since i was 12 and a half. I am 15 and a half years old now, in my first 1-2 years of addicition i watch PMO everyday and masturbated. Now i do it less, between 2-3 times a week. How long does it take for me to recover starting now? is there any lasting damages on my brain. I am a serious student at school i seriously want to know whether this will affect me for my whole life and my future career, or that it is reversable

  2. Hello and welcome to the forum!

Here you find lots of information about negative effects of excessive porn use and tips how to abstain from masturbation and watching porn. If something bothers your mind, feel free to ask an advice or tips. The only stupid question is the one you did not post. We're all here to recover from same addiction and we're all here to help each other.

As to answer to your question: Good news is that nothing is irreversible. You might want to try 30-day Reboot where you don't watch porn, masturbate or have orgasm at least 30 days, and let your brain to recover from dopamine high, which is caused by excessive masturbation. After 30 days you should be seeing quite an improvement in your day-to-day life.
I hope this gives you at least some sort of answer.

Hey Mike. Firstly, thanks for helping me. I have been addicted to porn and masturbation for 2 and 1/2 years, and i've only began to realise how big this problem was, and the dangers it posed to me at the start of this year. I've tried countlessly to stop my ways, but have only managed a "best" of 19 days in a row at one point. In a lifestyle that is demanding and stressful, I have indulged in porn to "relieve" my stress, only to find it getting worse, and me getting further into the addiction. Any pointers on how i can relieve my stress naturally, and at the same time remove porn and masturbation from my lifestyle? This pornography problem is constantly ruining my life and my relationship with friends. I really WANT TO get out of this addiction. Anything that helps is good.

Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and sometimes challenge you but not judge you.

The enemy is here to steal, kill and destroy. What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

I'm going to try the 30- day reboot. I am going to fill my free time with new hobbies such as photography, running, robotics, taking scenery vids, painting and so on. I just relapsed today.....didnt know why.....I was okay this morning but in the afternoon i became depressed with worries such as what will happen after 30 days of reboot. I have 2 and a half years of addiction here.....how long do you roughly think i need to take to reboot....and what happens after you reboot? Any advice is appreciated.

My current strategy was to try the 30 day reboot.....but my mind keeps worrying about what i should do after the reboot....and what if it takes more than 30 days. How long do you roughly think it takes a 2 and a half year addict like me to reboot? And what will happen after i succesful undergo reboot during that period of time? Thks in advance.

Everyone is different so no one can say exactly. 90 Days is a benchmark for which many have seen improvements on their journey but it depends on how disciplined you are as well as other personal factors.
